Hello everyone, In my quest to do research I found that there are a fair number of people who would like to know about reliable sellers of leather goods and hardware etc. within Canada. I thought I would share my list of resources that I've acquired during researching. Not sure if this topic is in the right place. What I would like to do is to get a moderator to 'Pin It' in the most suitable section in the Forums. When I read posts about almost any subject on here, I seem to spend ages trying to hunt down the easily obtainable equivalents to those mentioned in the post. Even if items are obtainable they tend to be very expensive if UK stocked and dispatched and generally out of the question if sent from the States. There are one or two examples of the reverse problem, I'm thinking of Dixon Tools and Tiger thread which you who live in USA find difficulties with. So what I am hoping for are lists of equivalents, suppliers posting with t…

Hello, I’m looking for sources for good quality leather and wondering where people are getting their leather from. I’ve bought from Tandy and Oregon leather. Neither seem to be able to get harness leather and I’d like to find some other sources. Thanks jonathan

Hi everyone, I am looking for this specific hardware to tether a chain to a trucker wallet. Anyone know any good sites for this type of hardware? Ideally in both solid brass and nickel options. Many thanks!

Howdy, I was watching a makers video and saw him using an interesting clip to hold things together. I like that you can fasten it without disturbing the placement of the work pieces. Any ideas of what it is called and who may have these available in the US? This is a still from this video at the 17:28 time mark: https://youtu.be/o74-mQeuHoc?si=EppX-JVTkYWTm1QF

Hi, I recently bought two cans of oil advertised as pure neatsfoot oil. However, I have worked with neatsfoot oil from other brands before and this one seems different in multiple ways. I had used starwax neatsfoot oil, wich was nearly odorless, and stayed liquid even at about 10 degrees celcius, and saphir brand, wich had a bit of a smell but not a suspicious one and remained liquid too. The oil I just bought is supposedly from a brand called P.Paulin, and not only does it have a very strong rancid smell, it does not stay liquid under Id say 20 degrees celcius. It is also cloudy while the other brands were transparent. is this normal? is it just …

Does anyone know what this black material is, and where to buy it? I'm making a couple dozen briefcase inserts, and I need some kind of backing for stitching pockets. The ones the customer has today have a black backing shown here, that feels like it has an almost plastic feel to it. This is the sample they gave me, and I'm supposed to make something similar. I've tried bookbinder board but it needs another backer behind the backer - like leather scrap. So that's extra cost to glue a strip of leather to the book board, and extra work. It's also not ideal in case someone drops a drink on it. Thanks!

Hi All, When I was doing leatherwork 8 or 9 years ago I was ordering my thonging lace from AmazingOz because it was top quality and they provided a great service to me when I lived in the UK. Their website is no longer up. Does anyone know if they closed down, or just changed name? I'd be interested to know if there are other good alternatives of quality Kangaroo lace that I could buy from Germany. Thanks. Paul
