Hey all, I'm considering buying a Weaver EZ Strap edger. Either the one that trims all four corners at once or the far less expensive machine that does two at a time. Has anyone had experience with either and possibly recommend which one I should get? The four blade model is quite expensive compared to the two. I don't know if the extra cost is justified. Thanks for any input!

I love the look of a round or mexican braid. However using a rotary punch kills my hands and wrists. I recently made a seat cover with a mexican braid and punched all the holes over the course of three days. I decided that I needed a better way. So I ordered five of the replacement rotary hole punches, then drilled and tapped a scrap hunk of aluminum to hold them. Now I can use my arbor press for the job. I just punched all the holes for a similar seat cover in an hour and boy, what a difference!

Saw a fellow leatherworker showing off his new Cobra strap cutter from LeatherMachineCompany a month back. I started shopping for a strap cutter and see that the AK-20 they market on their site is white. Does anyone know if there's a newer model, or any particular reason for a case change from their standard Cobra machine colors? The one I saw a month back had that Cobra brown. Curious about the difference before I drop $2k on a machine shipped all the way cross country. Thanks

I have a Consew bell skiver. Its fairly new (6 months) and I think I have it set up correctly. The problem I have is with the ball that feeds the material. Often, especially with relatively thin goat, the waste material sticks to the ball. So then that waste material comes around and under the material thats about to go through and causes irregular skived thickness. Sometimes even tearing the material. Is there anything I can do about this? Chuck

I am heading up in the hills tomorrow to pick up an old homecraft 3/4 dual head electric motor. The Idea it to put one of the pro burnishers on one side and then a buffing pad/disc on the other. Any recommendations for a setup? Thanks, Nick

I have mostly shyed away from stamping because of being worried about messing up my piece. After a lot of searching I came across this little press in the .5 ton variety. It's not a great press. It's made in China these days and has some slop to it. I can deal with that for a hobby and a sticker price of just under 60 bucks. One of the cool things about it is it already has a dye hole drilled into the ram and it comes with three dyes I will probably never use. Kudos to Amazon for some super fast shipping. Now when I opened it up I checked all of my border type stamps against the hole in the ram. Nothing fit. That's ok. Recently Tandy came out with this…

Hi, just received these skivers/cutter. Labeled AB Praktiska Nyheter (direct translation "Limited Company Practical News"). But they seem to be Landis (from what I've found online). They are quite rare in Sweden so information about them is very limited. And now I'm wondering if you could help me out. They are DIRTY and I'm trying to clean them up (I'm a "get everything disassembled and start from scratch" kind of guy). All seems to be working but are greasy/dirty from years of storage. The "sole cutter" seems to be missing it's "width adjuster" thingie. The skiver looks identical to this Landis: Quite grea…
