I was wondering if the armor makers of the forum would be willing to share how to make a pattern for a breast plate? What Im looking for is what do use for a pattern? A shirt, tank top? Im having problems wrapping my mind around the arm hole and Im sure its really easy and Im more than likely over thinking the matter, but with every pattern that I make it comes up tight in the arm/shoulder area and resticts arm movement. With looking at other armors on the web it looks like some might use a old tank top as a pattern, am I on the mark or out in left field? Serena

I found a whole folder full of leather patterns, all in french (thanks Google for the translations:-) ) Making a few searches it seams to be printed in 1908 and all patterns is in the style of Art Nouveau. A full book would be 48 planches with , photo and drawing patterns, mine is 46. So, I'm looking for someone that has this book/folder and willing to share the last two I'm missing as scannings...The name is "Le Cuir" compositions decoratives by Jehand Raymond Just a small picture from this folder/book for all leather people out there:-)

ETW Grumpy hit me up with a really easy (like it took 10 minutes to make) pattern for a coin purse. Since my brain was about to be fried working on a much more complex pattern so I decided to take a break and tackle this one. Christmas is coming and I'd like to get as many easy to make/quick gift idea patterns out there as possible The print size is 8-1/2x11 coin purse.pdf

This is the pattern I use to make my archers bracers. The only fun part with this bracer is to view the final result. It is stringed together at the side of the arm. It is made as a right or left arm piece. I use tracing film to trace cutting pattern over from this sketch so remember to flip the film upsidedown if you want to make a right arm piece. THIS IS A LEFT ARM PATTERN!!! Sizing: The original to this one is to fit an arm wich is about 19cm (7,4") diameter and you can see the mark for Cris is 17,5cm (6,8") so for that bracer I just cut the marked edge off from the original to fit his arm and make sure to follow the hole lines to mark out the stringing holes accordi…

I'm not good enough yet to do Saddle Bags from just a pattern yet, and I don't have the correct leather weight, so I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get a kit for an old west Saddle Bag?

A couple weeks ago Randy Cornelius asked me to post the purse pattern book I made up a few years ago. A little injury and some forced time out of the shop gave me the time to find my last remaining book and get it scanned in this morning. I think I printed up and mailed about 450 of these a few years back. These are some patterns I have used in the past, and still do. Some things I have changed, mostly the tooling patterns. The techniques have pretty much stayed the same. It is about 35 pages or so, and a big file - 15 MB. If I was more computer literate I could probably make it easier. Quick and dirt cheap stitching pony we made as a diversion from working with leather only. It's made of a plank of pine wood from the local hardware store, three screws with nuts and a couple of wood screws. Took about an hour to build but it does its job well. A video of making it here . Pattern available here
