Yeah, in the first pic the holster on the right is the original. He said he wanted it just like that, so I tried to make it as "just like that" as I could. They had the holster attached to a belt loop by Chicago screws that I couldn't see a reason for, except to scratch the gun, so I sewed it on instead.

This is a holster that I did for a gentleman. Sorry about the crappy pictures. Took them with my cell phone before I got a digital camera. Thanks for looking.

Got one of Ed's mauls a couple of weeks ago. Beautiful wood, quality workmanship and works great. He actually upgraded the wood from what I ordered because he didn't like the way it looked! Get ya some!

That's very nicely done. You've discovered the heart of leatherwork, imho. Making things because nobody else makes what you want, innovation, a willingness to try new things, etc. You also learned a little about bookbinding and sewing machines. Very cool. Keep posting pics of your work. This is a great resource.

Great topic. I used to do some drawing when I was a kid, but my biggest problem now is getting what I see in my head on paper and then on leather. Google images is my friend. I am mainly mechanical with a little artistic motivation.

I use a ceramic blade too. I have no complaints about the way W&C tools, just that "tacky" feeling when cutting. Think I prefer HO, though overall.

I recently bought a side of Hermann Oak and a side of Wickett & Craig. I like the HO better, but hate using it for anything that will be black. I hate covering that beautiful tan color. It may be me, but has anyone noticed W&C being "grabby" for lack of a better term? My knife wants to stutter instead of glide, even after stropping. Doesn't happen with HO.

Very nice work as always. Is the squarish piece on the bottom something for a bicycle? Also, what sizes are your pieces? The longer ones look like they might be the size of a roper wallet, but the small ones look like a pack of cigarettes even though I know they're bigger. Just curious.

Looks like you've got a good working rig there. I like suede straps and having them wider on the shoulders is probably ok, got a buddy who carries like that. I never noticed a significant difference between that and straight straps, even with something as heavy as a Desert Eagle "Baby Eagle" .40. A good metal reinforced thumb break is always a good choice. I never liked tie down straps that go to the belt. Try reaching above your head for something and your voice goes up an octave. I always found that the x shaped center piece and the weight of the weapon/mag pouches always made everything pretty fluid and natural. You're doing good research and it looks like it'll pay off. Make sure you post some pics of the finished rig.

It rides too high in the holster, could cause a retention problem. It looks like the gun is at a different angle than the holster, does that make sense? Holster and the gun should line up but it looks like the gun is sitting in the holster at a slight angle. Are the stitches recessed in a stitching channel? How is the rest of it held together? I don't see any stitches other than the ones to the sides of the gun. Can't really tell, are the edges slicked and finished? Good first holster overall. Pay attention to the details to give it a more "finished" look.
