  1. Absolutely amazing work! Very inspiring
  2. Thanks for your comments. I may use a different picture gallery when I make any big changes to the site in the future. If I were to change it now, Id have to add some html to each gallery. Unless anyone knows of a better way to do it??
  3. Thanks for your comment. When a gallery is opened, it opens in another browser tab, the original page is still open, so you can just select the other tab to go back to the main site. Or at least thats how it should work. Can you tell me if another tab opened? Thanks.
  4. Thats brilliant! Is it your truck? How long did it take you?
  5. The embarassing thing is that I am also in the tech community, more hardware than software and definately not web design. Im more into microcontroller programming. I guess its avoided my radar!
  6. I didnt realise that iOS devices dont support flash when so many websites use it. Is there an alternative to get the same effects? I just used HTML and CSS for mine since I dont know much about web design and would rather be making something out of leather than learning another language.
  7. I was having a similar converstion about a different subject on another forum. Someone suggested having a like or dislike button on threads or comments. I said that I dont give a S**t if they like or dislike me or my work. I guess many people use it but its not for me Im afraid. Saying that, I can see how facebook may help a business but I just dont want to be sepending my time on it. Id rather be doing something else, For the same reason I choose not to have a telly. Im not anti technology, Im an electronics and microwave engineer by day! Cheryl, Im glad it promped you to update your site, Ill take a look at it.
  8. Thanks Cheryl and Sylvia. @Sylvia, I dont use facebook so I dont think I can do that thing you said. I refuse to use any of these social networking other than linked in, I use that for my day job. Most of my friends are on facebook but I dont see the point of it, I just call, text or email them if I need to get hold of anyone. Ive seen how much time they spend on there and dont want to become like that! I guess Im anti-facebook! Im aiming to keep my website simple and to the point. I'll add more sections as I make more items.
  9. Thanks for posting the picture Tina! I have the A104-2, A104, A114 tools and the PA series. I tried to use the A114 tool on the larger areas but the pattern it leaves is coarser than the A104 so I felt that it didnt look right. I shall try out some practice tooling with all of them again on a scrap.
  10. Hi Sylvia, Yes i know the codes but the 'pitch' of the 'dots' that form the patten looked similar. I just thought that the F899 should have been more defined but I was wrong there. Im glad I didnt complain to my supplier about too much chrome! I have the A104 as well but its only a little longer. I'll try it out, I havent done that yet, thinking that there was not much difference between them. Thanks
  11. Thanks Jon, Im working on widening my portfolio. Im making a few guitar straps and learning to make tooled bike seats at the moment. Ive learnt a lot but I feel as though Im just scratching the surface of what I would like to do.
  12. Hi All, In November last year I learnt how to set up a website. This is my first attempt and after seeing some of yours, its pretty basic, but it does what it was intended to do. I wanted somewhere where I could display my pictures and have a point of contact. As I learn more about web design, taking better photos and editing images, I'll update it. the URL is www.lordofleather.com The name is a little 'tongue in cheek' after one of my nick names Any constructive criticism would be welcome. I plan on changing the font used and resizing the text but Id like to keep the 'Old London' font for the menu items. Something else I considered is to replace the main logo with a picture of a real tooled version of it. Let me know what you think.
  13. I just had a look at the website and it looks very professional. Great leatherwork too!
  14. Welcome to the forum! I've learnt a lot by joining this forum, I was a newbie when I joined and it would have taken me a lot longer to learn what I know now if it wasnt for this place:)
  15. Hi Andy, Thats fantastic. I also like the small pitch of the stitching. Is the design taken form a historic piece?
  16. Thanks Michael, I see. Yes, Ive been using the small tool for all areas. I think I have the hang of it, it just takes longer. I dont want the impressions to be as deep as I get from the larger matting tools so I'll just have to make do. Im glad to know the background tool isnt 'faulty'!
  17. When using the A104-2, the small pointed background tool, I get nice crisp patterns in the leather. (I dont think this one is craftool) When I was want to matt a larger area I bought the Craftool F899. However, when I use this tool, the definition is not as well defined as the above tool. It looks like the chrome plating is filling up the pattern on the tool. Am I using the wrong tool to get the same effect as the A104-2? Has anyone had problems with the chrome plating making the pattern less crisp? I have other matting tools that work great but the pattern is a little coarse. I would like a fine pattern to be applied to a larger area. Thanks.
  18. Welcome to the forum Birdman:)
  19. I like it, it looks well built, better than the one I use!
  20. Its probably the same stuff. It stinks of amonia if its latex based since amonia is a solvent for latex. I look forward to seeing the results.
  21. I love this guitar strap, the design is fantastic!
  22. Thanks Aurelie!
  23. ... you are not my friend! Heavy metal or no metal at all! ..... Cant wait for the new album to come out.
  24. Thanks! I was taking extra care to try to make the letters stand out by lightly beveling around them after backgrounding. It definately helps and I'll be doing it in future, not just for letters.
  25. Thanks Buddy, They are still going strong and about to release a new album this summer. I travel about to see them whenever I can.
