  1. Air guitar.
  2. CRAP.. camera went dead (seems to happen a lot for somebody whose kids "never' borrow it). So, no pics. I DID find the holster tho, and now I remember .... I didn't like the length of the thumb break snap. It's for a 3" version.. I'll get a pic when the camera charges a bit.
  3. Found my other sp101 pattern, kinda 'classic' styling. I made ona these recently.. but I got sidetracked by a few things. Cut it apart, and kaint 'member why! Still, I think it's purdy close.. i'll see kin I still find the left overs ....
  4. Nah.. no shoulder holster design. I aint made nuna them since the 80's. Somebody just posted some the other day, though, so shouldn't be hard to find. Keep in mind that overall length on that Ruger is just over 9".. and you still need room above to draw it without gittin in the arm pit. I pretty much fergot about that 'til a buddy talked about a shoulder rig for a super redhawk. Ever seen ona them things? If I put that in a shoulder rig, the barrel be smakkin' me in the knee! If he wants a vertical hang, then a slight mod to a standard belt loop likely do ya. Prolly some shoulder rig boys jump in here shortly.. maybe even git a pattern for a mag pouch. Oh, wait... that's another gun on another day
  5. I hear ya I hear ya So, how 'form fitting' is it gonna be? Wunna 'em 'ere fold-overs, stitch line under? I'm assuming you'll have some type of strap on that one... vertical, or through the back? I got a design I'm purdy shur works on the 4.2". Well, it wurks on the 2 and 3", just aint made the 4.2" yet, but should be good. One is a 'vengerful' type, other more 'classic'. Here's the tight one...
  6. Oh, that sp101 doesn't come in a 4.5", but actually a 4.2" (if that matters in your design). What kind of holster are ya makin'? Taco, pancake, ankle... ?
  7. Nope. Unless you're talking about a VERY loose fitting holster, then you might NOT wanna go with that. Some folks think a walmart bag is "close enough" if you put a strap on it, so ... looking fer pics..... The two on the right are j-frames. The Ruger is a bit more than 3/16" "taller" frame to guard (red arrow) and the cylinder is a bit bigger (by about .040").
  8. If you have a drill press and a high speed twist drill (most of them are now days) you could do this yourself in less time than driving to the place Otherwise, ANY machine shop or even an auto repair shop should be able to do this easily.
  9. It's not just your store.. Last time I was at tandy I went through at least 50 hides (I want to say closer to 100) and just couldn't talk my self into any of it. Left without it... not even good for un-carved innards. Say tandy and I 'get' it.. I just wanted to know if the machine was doing that!
  10. Definitely something sandwiched between the layers of leather. Plastic, kydex, wood, rawhide, sheet metal...
  11. Did your leather come with the grain crinkled like that, or did the machine do that?
  12. That's going to depend on what is "sellable". I sometimes throw away projects I consider to be far superior to what I see for sale every day. In fact, years ago I started cutting up projects I was scrapping before throwing them out -- when I found some of my items had been taken from the trash and sold.
  13. Looks like your stitch line around the panel might have crept in a bit - or maybe that's just the angle of the pic. Looking pretty good.
  14. No worries.. have at 'er! Those little things are so simple to do, it's easier to just post a pic of the finished thing than describe the steps (almost takes longer to say it than it does to do it!).
  15. Didn't we see someone selling that dummy gun at like half price? Checkin'... EDIT: Sorry, wrong laser
  16. Welcome..
  17. OR, for you 'other' foks.... maybe a plain, lay-it-open type thingy ... BECOMES
  18. What.. don't like that one? Here's one, same deal, a bit more vertical, for those people... BECOMES
  19. ANybody else feel like you could just about GAG on all of the "patterns" and "templates" available for the SIMPLest things? Seriously, HOW tough is a "minimalist" wallet, that people will PAY to have a line drawing? I got one somewheres .. hold on...
  20. Got a link to over there. I'd seen it before, but guess I forgot. Some o you foks might wanna pick up some easy money over there. Leather pillow (approx cost $30) for $350? Puke brown belts for $100 (total time.. about half an hour). It goes on.... Check it out.
  21. You talkin' wallets? The innards is shorter so it doesn't pucker when ya fold it. 1/2" difference sounds extreme, though.. mine are more like 1/4" shorter.
  22. OOOPS typing error.. That should read NOW this was interesting! How DO you scan a blue gun?
  23. For a 3rd timer- that really isn't so bad! True, it could be smoother, but this will come with practice. And I agree that your leather was too wet when you began. The right moisture content will help with the 'smoothness', too -- even on your swivel knife cuts. Starting with leather too wet is a VERY common beginner mistake which MOST of us have made. And as a rule, basket weave or other geometric stamps have "supposed to" rules that should be followed so the overall look is cohesive. Other stamps... bevelers, muletools, shaders,... all welcome your own style. STAY AT IT
  24. As a former tool & die maker, I can probably figure out sharpening steel Point is, a guy shouldn't have to sharpen a tool he hasn't used yet!
