  1. Is it possible? How would you go about marking it? Will I need to touch up the dye? I've been warned that dyeing black is a booger to keep from coming off, so I'm trying to keep from ruining someone's clothes. 'Nother bunch of newbie questions. God Bless, Ray
  2. I'm new to this so, could I use premade interiors or would I have to make those too? Also what thickness of leather should I buy? God Bless, Ray

  4. Hey folks Where's the Best place to buy pre cut wallet kits???? New to tooling and I made a friend a wallet out of a Tandy kit, and now I have other friends asking for me to do the same. Doesn't have to be the Tandy kits, just something similar in design that's easily assembled. I don't have the tools yet for punching holes for stitching etc. Any ideas???? God Bless, Ray
  5. Hey folks, I Need help finding front pocket wallet pattern. I have a friend with back problems that has to carry his wallet in his front pocket. His wallet looks like this; Any ideas???? God Bless, Ray
  6. I recently received a Barry King Maul 16oz. Its made all the difference in the world to my progress. The Tandy mallet I have I seemed to have been pushing the tools with, and with the BK maul, one to two strikes of the tool and I get great impressions versus the several strikes needed with the mallet. God Bless, Ray

  12. Mr. Hatley, You may well be right, but the nearest Tandy to me is approximately 100 miles away. I'm disabled and do not drive, so I will or would be paying shipping anyhow. Life's tough when you live in the woods. God Bless, Ray
  13. Looking for a Maul/Mallet that weighs at least 16oz. If you've upgraded and have a spare, let me know. I don't have a King's Ransom, but If anyone out there has one, I'd put it to good use . Thanks Everybody! God Bless, Ray
  14. Reaper, The mallet in my kit was yellow poly. It's just too light. That and me not knowing what I'm doing:censored2: . Yeha, I've had that dowloaded since I joined. It may as well be in a froreign language. I'm still trying to find just right. I've tried ziplock overnight in the fridge, and I've tried wetting to various degrees with a sponge. I dunno, I guess I'm beetleheaded. God Bless, Ray
  15. Still trying to learn what "right" is when it comes to casing. Trial and error,y'know. The mallet that came in the kit weighs 6oz, according to my kitchen scale. Never thought of Harbor Freight. Thanks for the tip! God Bless, Ray
  16. Hey folks, I'm in need of a mallet or maul that has more heft than the one that came in my Tandy kit. I'm having to beat the snot out of the leather to get good impressions. I'm hoping a heavier tool might result in fewer strikes. Frankly I've been at this a little over a week and I'm wore out. Is there a Want To Buy section here? I wish I had the money to drop and get a Barry King maul but I need something inexpensive. Any help is appreciated. God Bless, Ray

  19. Man my Browser must be goofing up. There are much more replies here than were here yesterday when I last replied. Here goes; Pete, I'm using the stylus that came in the kit. It's got a sharp point I believe to double as an awl. Your probably right with my leather being too wet. I'm going at this and learning as I go. Next scrap I work on I'll take a pic and upload. swinewerx; Once I get a handle on what all the tools can do, I might just tool the snot outta everything. Dave, I've used some of the shelf liner that has a sticky back for airbrush masking, I wonder If I could use it on the leather? JJ, I'm on it. I'm almost out of the mini roll that came with the kit anyhow. Thanks everybody! God Bless, Ray
  20. Maybe I could dull the Stylus some with some sandpaper? God Bless, Ray
  21. As some of you know I got a Tandy Deluxe Kit, and I'm having trouble transferring patterns onto the leather. I seem to cut through the paper with my stylus, and when I do that deforms my line I was trying to transfer My lines literally look like they were scratched in and not smooth. I'm using the film that came in the kit. Any tips???? God Bless, Ray
