  1. I've used olive oil with Vinegaroon. I dunno if that'd be a no-no though. I'm still too new to know. God Bless, Ray
  2. Makers stamp is right for the lid down right? Great job, but I gotta admit I would've never thought someone might request a toilet seat . LOL! :D God Bless, Ray
  3. Gonna give a go at it cased here shortly. Wish me luck. God Bless, Ray
  4. Newbie needs help. I just got all the hand stitching tools including Al Stolman's book, but these questions aren't answered. God Bless, Ray
  5. Brother B, I wish I could learn the 4 plait. God Bless, Ray
  6. This would be perfect for me. I have a hard time holding stamps straight.(Disabled). Especially if the guide fence could be made movable for things like basket stamps. No more crooked half impressions or twisted stamps between strikes. I'd like to know if your friend might make another of these for profit. Let me know;). God Bless, Ray
  7. In my opinion, one should create a general size that'd fit "most" phones. Trying to create exact sizes for every model would be too time consuming. Not to mention you might be looking at most a 90 day time span that phones are "in vogue". Redoing teplates every 90 days would be a chore. God Bless, Ray
  8. I've read the posts, but I'd hafta buy tea, I don't drink it. And my Pop's a coffee nazi. Likes to drink it and would consider that a waste. I used two pads of 0000 wool in about 1/2 gallon of old vinegar. Both cider and white. To be honest I don't see a need in getting a stronger reaction. Getting rid of the odor faster I'd be down for though. God Bless, Ray
  9. Well my 'Roon is two weeks old today. I just took a belt out of it and it's as black as coal. Started with 0000 Steel wool. I don't know if that makes any difference though. God Bless, Ray
  10. Thanks! I like the pic title "Rob's crap" too. God Bless, Ray
  11. Your right, all I have is a big piece. I'll do my best to get an edge, and go from there. Thanks for your help. God Bless, Ray
  12. Bobby, Thanks for yur response. I'd like to ask you how you determine where "straight" is to mark the line? In other words, if I take a regular straight edge and lay it on the leather how will I know when it's actually straight? Do I need a big square? Thanks, God Bless, Ray
  13. Bob, I'm trying to straighten a crooked piece of leather so that I can cut straps with a strap cutter. Trouble is all four sides aren't straight. I simply don't know where to begin. Pete, I'm with ya. I have an Xacto and a 36" and 48"steel rules. God Bless, Ray
  14. How does one establish an accurate straight edge on leather? Or rather what's the easiest or preferred method? God Bless, Ray
  15. Aaron, Where do you get a Henley from? I've googled them but can't find a internet dealer or price info. God Bless, Ray
  16. What's the Best way to hand carve a 1/4 inch +/- font ? My 3/8 inch knife blade seems too large for this. I'm just starting out, so I'm sure I could do better with just more practice, but are there any tips or trics that mighht help me get better faster? I was thinking maybe a 1/4 inch or hair blade but I don't know which to try. I'm trying to make something for someone with a unique, not readily available font. Thanks to everyone as always. God Bless, Ray
  17. Absolutely Bobby! Thanks for your help and advice. God Bless, Ray
  18. Hello everybody, Forgive my lack of knowledge and experience with leathercraft, but I've come to realize something unusual to me as far as suppliers are concerned. I was reviewing a suppliers shipping policy this morning that read "Orders are shipped within 10 days". Is this common practice with leather shops? I'm used to ordering something and having tracking info within 48 hours at most. Before someone says, "Buy it local", I cannot. Closest leather shop to me is 100 miles away, I'm disabled and do not drive. So in essence I'll have to get EVERYTHING online. Who among the internet shops are quickest from point of sale to ship (in your experience)? In the future I'll be aware of such policy and plan accordingly, but out of sheer curiosity I'd like to know if that length of time is standard. God Bless, Ray
  19. I'd like to know if I can get Eco Flow Saddle Tan to look like Aged natural leather? How might I go about doing this? Total newbie, sorry if this is silly. God Bless, Ray
  20. Is there anything stiffer than a brush to use? Something that'd work along the lines of an acrylic marker? I wish there were foam brushes the size and stiffness of a marker tip. I'd have much better results faster. Or am I going to have to tough it out and learn to use a brush? God Bless, Ray
  21. Great Detail. What exactly did you use? Total newbie. God Bless, Ray
  22. Looking for tools last night,(dreaming of nice tools) and I saw that Bob Douglas has an item called "The Colt" that is a stitching clamp. Anybody got pictures? I know Bob's around here, but he's probably busy creating something fantastic and I don't want to disturb. God Bless, Ray
