Just ordered all the tools for hand stitching. Is it strange to be excited and dreading it equally? :-)

Ed, I'm new round these parts, but I gotta say the bear footprint is what set the whole project off for me. Everything else is utterly amazing but I like incorporating "signature" things without being overly obvious. Fantastic job. :D God Bless, Ray

Bob, I've yet to get any machinery (belt sanders etc), so could I trouble you for some tips on hand sanding? What type sandpaper is best? How does one know when the leathers are even? Just starting out, and I'm as green as a shamrock. Sorry if this is trouble. God Bless, Ray

By The Way Clair, The groover that I posted in post #5 can be used right or left handed according to Tandy's video. Hope this helps! God Bless, Ray

I placed my first order with Springfield on Tuesday Art. I've got to get all the hand stitching tools to start. I'll call Kevin Friday. Thanks brother! God Bless, Ray

Who makes this groover set? http://springfieldleather.com/store/product/25103/Groover%2CPro-Stitching-Set/ And can it be used left handed? God Bless, Ray

Ok everybody, I've got two jars "brewing". One I degreased, one I didn't. Respectively they look like this; No degreasing; Degreased; The question I have now, is rather or not this stuff is looking right? Looks like black coffee now. It's been just a couple days. I stir/shake at least twice a day. What do y'all think? :D God Bless, Ray

What Is A Penner And How Can I Make One?

Here's a webpage on penners http://www.loringpage.com/pens/cat01b.htm. That's the best I can do for you dear. I'm greener than a barrel of pickles when it comes to leatherwork, but that may help you see what they are. God Bless, Ray -
I'm in the same sort of boat as you Greg. I have Cerebral Palsy, so the outlook on a "normal" job is just as bleak for me. I don't know if I'll make a full living doing leatherwork(that I leave entirely up to God) but I enjoy it. And thus far I've met some fantastic folks here on Leatherworker.net that are more than willing to help. Keep on Truckin' brother! God Bless, Ray

Reza, The adapt a rule looks interesting as a straightedge. I'll see where I might check one out locally. Jeff, I'm not really set on anything, I'm more trying to educate myself in the craft. I've been at this a whole two months, and there's no one within 100 miles of me to learn from. Being a southpaw is odd, but palsy got my right hand good enough that I don't have precise control with it. Just tryin' to learn brother. God Bless, Ray

Thanks Bruce! I didn't know if anyone made plow/draw gauges for lefties or not. I appreciate everything brother. God Bless, Ray
