Did you ever find the pins you were looking for? I believe they were also called Speedy Stirrup Pins. The quick change buckles are available through Toowoomba Saddlery in QLD, sold as Fender Quick Adjusters.

Hi there and welcome to the forum! I've got 2 friends who have the Cowboy/techsew splitter and it works well for them. One is a general leathergoods maker doing wallets, EDC type stuff and the other a full time saddler and both say it works for what they do, however the saddler has his eye open for a larger band knife splitter for the larger work. I have a bandknife splitter and love it as I am not limited to firmer veg tan leather and can split anything I need to. Where are you located? There may be a few guys around - myself included - who can split things for you in the interim whilst you research splitters. Thanks, Jason

Sorry I'm a few months behind catching up, but @RockyAussie does your brass roller allow you to skive heavier leathers too? I've got a standard bell skiver and thinking about modifying it to take more dense veg tan too. Cheers!

Hi all, I have recently aquired an old Fortuna 470 splitter, but don't have a manual and having a hard time trying to find one. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks, Jason

G'Day all, here's some pictures of a wade saddle I finished rebuilding for a customer last week. I've made a few Aussie half breed style saddles but this was the first wade I've made and first with the inlaid padded seat. Turned out OK I think, minus the skirts not lining up 100% centered, same as the stirrup bolts and the wrinkle on the seat pad cover. Stamping still needs work too. Please critique away and let me know of anything I need to improve on. Thanks, Jason

From what I've seen Greenhalgh isn't too bad but I prefer HO or Lefflers MO for tooling. I've tried getting samples from East Coast Leather and haven't got any of my 4 requests over 3 months. Thinking they only want to deal with QLD folks and not in SA?

Looks good Aussie, and nice work too Wedgetail. I've used Adelaide Leather for years as my local supplier here in SA but a guy round the corner from me has suggested Marish Accessories for buckles and such and they seem even better on their pricing.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but that is one beautiful complete machine there mate! I've used a couple and currently use a newer one at RM Williams with a motor and she's a beauty. I'd love one for myself one day!

Hi Everyone, I'm making a pair of chaps for a customer who wanted a pair like these. The only thing is I can't work out how to tie this knot holding the back belt onto the chap. I've spent ages trying to figure it out and it's got me beat! If anyone would be able to help that would be greatly appreciated!! Cheers, Jason

Hi Ya'll thanks for the comments!! Sorry for being a little slow, been pretty busy recently! The black strap is from a double butt so didn't have to dye that and the stamped one has had a few coats of olive oil and leather dressing and then left in the sun for a couple days on a 40+ degree day to get a nice sun tan. Spook, I mainly play Telecaster style guitars, there's something about that country twang I love about them. I've got a Fender and a custom made one from an awesome luthier in Sydney amongst many others. It's my version of a 50's tele as I'll never be able to afford one of those lol!!!!

What about a lead block? I melted down fishing sinkers in a tin and left it to cool and popped it out when it was done.
