you should really think about a cargo container. they are very sturdy and waterproof(if they haven't been damaged. they are also easy to secure.

my membership renewal forms arrived from tandy last week. due to poor service, raised prices, and constant shipping problems after 5+ years of membership, I will not be renewing my membership again. hell, they don't even give the 'free tool' anymore. I'm so pissed with their corporate greed, I doubt I'd even accept a FREE membership.

how does one start a leatherworking guild? where do I start?

I've been a tandy customer for about 4 years with gold membership. as a beginner I had to start somewhere, and there weren't any local stores. in those 4years, I have noticed that: 1. their prices have gone up. 2. their service has gone down. 3. their membership/flyer "freebies" have disappeared (what happened to the free stamp coupon??). 4. after 4 years, I've also noticed that their flyers are pretty much the same(other than the higher prices and added steampunk); yes, I still own the last 4 years of catalogs and flyers. i think i won't be renewing membership this year. sorry tandy, you lost my business...

I used to really like tandy but lately, with their price changes I have lost faith in them. hell, they don't even give free tools to their gold members anymore. I have had some pretty bad shipping problems with them in the past. i will NOT be renewing my gold membership again, as I am not really interested in their pattern library... for the price of their membership, I think I will be shopping elsewhere in the future.

in the past I have also thought of painting my stamp handle ends different colors to differentiate what series they are.

this is the reason i have not bought a machine yet. shipping and customs charges into canada is prohibitive.

i bout my letter stamp set from tandy while on sale. i'm pretty happy with them. they do thier job.

i think i bought a complete set of hole punches from my local hardware store for around $20. ive had them for about 3 years, and they work fine.

are these problems common with the new tippman boss? i am considering buying one direct from tippman, but if these are common problems, i don't want to risk having to return my new machine for repairs, as shipping from canada is quite expensive... i prefer to be able to use a NEW machine, than to have to return it to the manufacturer shortly after receiving it.

i really like this design, although i'm surprised that you didn't basket stamp the main body. i would be curious to see how you formed it, and what your wet forms look like. well done! :D

ive been a gold member for around 3 years and have bought many tools and supplies from tandy. its easy to spend $200+ a year, because leatherworking isn't cheap. so 18-20% savings is worth it. hell, buying a double shoulder is around $100. i've never had any issues with their item quality, but i have had issues with their customer service in the past. in the past they have sent the wrong items, or missed items on my order. for me, being a tandy gold member is a no brainer, and i will continue being one.

i have been interested in buying a Boss machine from tippmann for some time, so i was happy to see that Tippman is having a "Holiday Special" that i found in the LW links above. i was shocked to see the "Holiday Special" price of $1250. http://www.tippmannindustrial.com/ if this is true, than the regular price of the BOSS is $1495? (it does say $245 off). is this an error? or is it the actual holiday price? if this is the case, i doubt i will be buying a BOSS anytime soon.

twinoaks: i knew that they were to be carved and then the image is make "3dimensional" using stamps. i was just trying to figure out what tools to use after the carvin'. most craftaids have tool numbers writen on them. JLSleather: thanks for the input. and THANKS A LOT for the images!

i recently bought the Tandy CraftAid #76579 Leaves & Horse Belt & Billfold Craftaid. http://www.tandyleat...s/76579-00.aspx all the other craftaids that i have, usually have a drawing that includes what stamps to use. this craftaid has a beautifull drawing, but includes no stamp lists or recommendations. can anyone offer a few ideas on what stamps i should be using for the leaves? I want to put the leaf design on a book cover. any other suggestions would be appreciated. thanks for your input.
