  1. Check Bunkhouse Tools on face book. I don't have there web link right now but can find it later if you can' t find them with that
  2. Looks good to me. I thought it was a 3D stamp.
  3. Found a supplier for Rugger Vaquero and single six 22 cal. dummy guns. They have lots of other gun molds as well as embossing wheels and plates. http://bunkhousetools.com/Home_Page.html

    24 Plait Stock Whip

That is amazing work!!!! Would love to have one of those.
  5. Just in case you haven't decided yet. I went through the same thing a while back and ended up getting the consew 206 RB 5. Nice machine and does what it is advertised to do, but very fast. I am thinking of trying to add a speed reducer to it. If I had it to do over would get something like the Tech-Sew 2700 and get the flat bed table with it. Or a Cobra. Having the open arm option is something we are already missing.
  6. Thanks for the kind words. Wish I could come up with something like that on my own.
  7. Really nice. Makes me want to get back into black powder shooting.
  8. This was my first holster set. It sure helped that Will Ghormley makes a good pattern and backs it up with really good instruction on his web site. I added a 3oz. liner to the belt and holster and the pistol fit was still good.
  9. Nice. I really have to relocate, no one dresses like that around here
  10. Good Idea! One more thing to add to my things to find list.
  11. Looks good and the waterstain turned out really nice. I just started on a "Hand of God " holster yesterday and am going to try the waterstain for the first time. What color is that you used? I had thought of not using the toe plug also and wasn't sure if it would affect the fit of a pistol. I don't own one myself yet so don't get to see how the fit will be. Thanks for posting that, looking forward to seeing the belt as well.
  12. Just got my order from Weavers today. I had asked for a sample of Brahma Webb, maybe a foot long or something like that. They sent a 2 inch piece in a zip lock, in a padded envelope inside the box with the rest of my order. Kinda hard to test sew that or do anything with it. Think I will stick to working with leather. Supposed to be -15 tonight , I will put that piece outside and see what it does. The lady who had wanted the Australian head stall in synthetic might have to change her mind.
  13. Had the same question. I just ordered a sample of Brahma Web from Weavers. Looks like the biothane is way more expensive. I have customer who wants an Australian style bridle and I had thought the Brahma might be the same. Is there a big difference for something like that?
  14. Check out Klenda Custom Saddlery . He has a pen that does that. http://www.klendasaddlery.com/patterns.htm
  15. Very nice. Is that the type of things in his creative stamping books?
  16. Thanks for your reply's. I did not mention that I have a 441 clone so this new machine will be used for the lighter leather projects. Definitely buying from one of the members here, so pretty confident the follow up service will be good. The presser foot difference is a question I will be asking, I had thought these machines had interchangeable accessories.
  17. You could try Halfords Hide and Fur for your antler buttons. They are in Edmonton, Alberta and carry a lot of Native craft supplies. https://www.halfordsmailorder.com/eSource/ecom/eSource/default/default.aspx?store= I have been trying to get a hold of Bob at Toledo Sewing and his toll free number will not work from here. So if anyone has a different number for him would they send it to me or post it.
  18. Hey Chris Thanks for your your advice, against my better judgement the wife has decided we should get a flatbed machine. I see on your profile you are interested in black powder. I used to shoot a 54cal Hawken and made all my own stuff, if you have any questions maybe I can return the favor. Thanks again Mark

  19. I have bee researching new machines and it has come down to these brands. Seiko STH-8BLD-3 Consew 206RB-5 Techsew 106 The prices are all fairly close after shipping and everything else considered. I could not find much on the forums about the Japan / Chinese made quality differences. Considering the Consew - Seiko history then throw in the Techsew is there a big difference? I haven't actually seen any of these except on the internet/utube so sometimes a picture isn't worth ........ I would't feel comfortable making this purchase without hearing from you guys so Thanks in advance for your advice.
  20. That is a good idea and one I haven't seen before. I will try that one myself. I think all the information you will need to make it can be found on this forum . The cutting, stamping/tooling,dying, hardware , lots to learn and a good project to start out with. Have fun and lots of good people here to learn from.
  21. Here is a picture of one I made to hang on a saddle. Pretty basic idea that could be adapted to a belt.
  22. The carriage trade in Victoria won't give you a whole bunch of work. You should talk to the drivers or go for a ride, watch the parts of the harness that are pulling or have stress. These have to be made from the strip along the back of a side of harness leather. Other parts don't have stress and just hold things in place so can be made from a different part of the harness leather.. So using the wrong part of the hide would not be good for future business. Buying a piece of leather from Tandy and dying it black is probably not a good option either. Charging for your work is always hard, do some research. Learn the names of the parts of a harness, phone a harness maker and find out what they would charge . If you can find out so can the guy looking for the repair/part. As with anything if there was money to be made somebody would already be doing it.
