Flap Holster For Chest Or Belt Carry
mcn replied to Rogueshadow's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
I like the belt / harness idea. I have a lady who wants a holster for when she is cross country skiing. A chest rig like this should work just fine, thanks for sharing. -
Very nice. Is that all rawhide? And if so how do you get the color?

First Time Leather Worker - First Holster
mcn replied to katsass's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
Great tutorial with lots of of information but you forgot to mention a very important tool. I think it's the one we are looking at now. From one grumpy old guy to another, something neither one of us had when we started out. There are so many people sharing knowledge now , simply amazing. You don't have to make the mistakes or do the foot work that we did. Research the forums check out the face book pages, Master of Leather, Holsters for handguns. Just a couple of examples of places where people will share there knowledge on how to make a holster from the basics to the finer points and are happy to help . -

Look in Tandys online Leathercraft Library https://www.leathercraftlibrary.com/p-1620-custom-holster-pattern-4418.aspx -
Very nice. I really like the ribbon tooling

Tandy had a free maple leaf corner pattern that I am adjusting for a holster pattern. I can't find it on there site anymore so I will attach it here. If that doesn't work I could email you the PDF

Floral Checkbook Cover
mcn replied to Double U Leather's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Very nice work. Do you know if the flower you used a daffodil? It is the flower for the Canadian Cancer Society and I have a lady who wants them on her chaps, and that looks pretty close to me. I have been looking for a pattern but haven't had much luck. If that is a pattern I could find somewhere I would sure appreciate knowing. -
I had the same problem with spirit dyes, if that is what you are using. So I started staying away from them for large projects and used neatsfoot or olive oil with antiques. Last couple things I used Eco Flo waterstains and really liked the results. Will Ghormley http://www.willghormley-maker.com/index.html has a good piece about them. I didn't answer your question but I hope the alternatives help.

There was another thread on here a while back that had some information on this. It must have used a different name for them cause I can't find it when I do a search. Maybe someone else remembers it. DoubleBarP that would be great if you could take one apart and post some pictures.

Elton Joorisity another member on here makes a good one that I use in a drill press, works great. He has a group page Northern Lights Leather Tools on face book where you can see pictures and prices of everything he makes.

Plastic Holster Molds For Saa!
mcn replied to Slickbald's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Could you post a picture of one of them? And a list of what you can get. I am mostly interested in the 45 cal. Vaquero with 4 3/4 barrel if you can get it, but would like to get the all the Ruger Single Six Molds if possible. Just got your holster and belt patterns a few days ago. Very good ,clear patterns Thanks -
I really like the use of the floral geometric combination with meander border. Nice full design.

I am looking for a pattern for steers or cattle to match the Pecos Bill character. I had thought there were some on a doodle page but can't find any so I must have seen them in some other pattern book . If anyone knows where I can find some I would sure appreciate finding them.

Mounted Shooting Holster For A Shotgun
mcn replied to mcn's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Thanks for the comments. Yes those are my finger nail marks and the edges should have had more time spent on them. Both of witch I will have to remedy. The gun itself is snug in the holster and won't bounce and is only in the holster for a matter of seconds. I haven't seen him at a shoot with the shot gun but I think they shoot 6 from there pistol then draw the shot gun. I just hung that on my saddle for the pictures, the straps are removable so it can be turned either way. He asked for lots of strap as he was not sure how he would tie it to his saddle. It seems pretty awkward to me so if anyone has ideas or different ways to hook one on your comments would be appreciated. -
Thanks I had checked on Ebay, I guess I didn't try enough searches

I need heels replaced on a pair of boots. Is there a supplier that sells single items?
-
Very nice. I am just starting a pair for a lady who asked for barbwire, basket stamp and her brand. I did not think I would be able to fit all of that and make it look good so thanks for sharing yours pictures. Did you put the brand on both yokes?
-
I had the same problem when I made my first holster belt. My pant size and my measured waist size are not the same Kind of disappointing actually . I can wear my holster but it has to be on the last hole,

I just installed a speed reducer on my Consew 206-RB5. What a difference it made in my machine, it now does what I had hoped it would do when I bought it. The speed control is is awesome and now it punches through leather that it could not before. I have a Servo motor with speed control on my Consew but it was still to fast for detailed sewing. I don't know if the other brands of machines in this class have the same issues, but for this machine I wish I would have known to have one installed when I bought it.
