  13. I’m sure the same type of discussions arose around many a campfire when new materials and methods were introduced. I suppose all crafts have their Lilliputians. Doug
  14. Great job on blending the KYdex and the leather together, it looks like a very comfortable and functional design. Did you use a hydraulic press to mold your Kydex or just a hand press? I’m on a couple of knife maker forums and I remember seeing some of the same comments regarding Kydex and knife sheaths. Some makers like the idea of the Kydex because it is very stiff and easy to mold. I have read about some makers lining there Kydes with thin leather to help protect the knife. But that would depend on what you were using it for and where you were. In sandy conditions I have seen the finish come off a gun barrel just from the sand getting into the leather and acting like sand paper. Doug
  15. Great I will give that a try thanks Doug
  16. Dirtclod great idea do you have a problem with the mix drying out fast with the denatured alcohol?
  17. Have you tried using a resist first, then apply the paint that away if you do get outside the area you can wipe it off with a Q-tip, I use small foam cleaning pads they are about the size of a Q-tip but don’t have the fuzz, they are flat on the bottom. When you load your brush with paint wash start in the center of your work and let the paint flow towards the edges then work the paint into the edges with the brush. I keep a second brush handy that is damp if I get to much paint in an area I use it to soak it up, just rince it out and dab it on a paper towel. Hope this helps Doug
  18. I wonder if you made one that held more then 7 rounds if it would be illegal in New-York LoL
  19. Very nice great color did you line it with anything or just leave is plain?
  20. I came across some 1/2 inch white plastic like is used by most food processing places not sure what is used on a clicker, If you use a harder cutting board would it dull the dye. I also added some high density foam the blue stuff you buy a home depot in the garden section. I have some denser stuff that I use on my kydex press I might give that a try. An interstate plastic has good prices on most plastic. If you have a restaurant supply store you can try there I picked up a used 2x3 cutting board for 10 bucks.
  21. That turend out nice Doug
  22. Those are sweet love the color.
  23. Looks like it should work great! Can you put a presser gauge on it so you know how much force you are using, don't want to bend your dies. Any way to attach the die to the top plate so it comes up when you release the presser on mine I I'm always fighting with the dye it gets stuck in the bottom plastic plate. Doug
  24. Great job KT your old work looks kinda like some of my new work LOL
