  1. Electrathon, I used the template you had posted up quite some time ago and modified it for my first wallet. So, I wanted to give you credit for that while I recommended that Highlands does the same. Below are some links to the pictures of my first wallet. This was 5/6 oz with a pig skin lining. I cut everything to size, but I found that the 3/8 shorter on the inside wasn't quite short enough, so I just folded the whole thing up and cut off the bits that were sticking out past the tooled back. I can't find the link to the template right now, but it really did help me a lot. Sorry I can't offer much else in the way of advice. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?app=gallery&module=images&section=viewimage&img=16607 http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?app=gallery&module=images&section=viewimage&img=16606 http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?app=gallery&module=images&section=viewimage&img=16604
  2. Finally got to sit down at home and watch it. It's exactly what I expected, but I had to be a pain Now, if only I could put together licks like that..... practice might help.
  3. I had a tight budget, so I opted for the Harbor Freight deluxe dual action and one of their small 3 gallon 100 PSI compressors with a built in regulator. Spinner has had a lot of good things to say about various different models and several of his posts said that the HF models are just as good for the majority of the work we do. The one I got is a knock off of a Badger. I also got a few of their disposable in-line moisture filters to keep me going until I get some more cash flow for a better one (and hopefully a better compressor at some point too). Here's a link to one of the threads where Spinner makes a lot of good recommendations. There are several more if you type "airbrushing" into the search bar on top. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=36289&st=0&p=224369&hl=airbrush&fromsearch=1entry224369
  4. That might be one of my favorites so far. The contrast of that "lace" just really makes it pop. That, and every time I try doing thin flames or tribal like that I end up cutting too deep so it looks screwy when I tool it out. So, I know how hard it is to get it as crisp and clean as you did here.
  5. Is this how you're measuring, or are you going to the end of the buckle? http://www.chancey77.com/belts.html
  6. Mine's a 15 x 24 sink cutout that was free by going to the local granite counter shop. Turns out they actually pay someone by weight to come pick up all the remnants, so I saved them money by doing it. If you already have the tiles, give it a try until you can get to a granite shop and smooth talk them.......or just say "do you have any scrap I can have"
  7. That is SUPER cool!! What did you do for that coloring effect?
  8. Sylvia, I'd recommend looking around for some japanese water stones. There are a lot of them from "King" on ebay for a good price. It's one of the better brands and many of them come with multi grades.
  9. Check out Kingsmerecrafts.com as well (for lots of stuff). Many of their guides are similar to the tandy ones. This will give you some other hints at the bottom. http://kingsmerecrafts.com/page99.html
  10. Cool. You know I was really wondering about that too. Showed it to my wife last night and she just said "Wow!"
  11. You have a period after the htm at the end of it.

  13. Thanks guys. The pyramid was a design we drew up for my friends tattoo a while ago. While deciding what to do for his wallet, that was all he could think of to use. But, it looked like someone wearing glasses when open if I put it on both sides, so I came up with the phoenix for the other side. I think my biggest issue was the stretchiness of the pig lining for the insert. It was just really hard to keep accurate since I'm so used to working with 8/9 for everything I do. Either way, I know he's really happy with it. We even added the eyelet for his chain when I delivered it, so he got to watch a little bit of the work.
  14. Beat me to it!! I'm a big fan of my swivel beveler and it does work great for doing a nice bead around the border. Just grab that and one of the cheapo tandy swivel barrels and you're off.
  15. I finally got my first wallet finished up. There are some things I would definitely change/watch out for next time. But, all in all I'm pretty happy with it. Actually the whole thing was full of firsts - first time working with thin tooling leather, pig lining, buckstitch lacing, etc...... Good fun either way.

  20. Cool. I've heard that questions come up several times, so I'll keep it in mind so I can give a good answer.
  21. Yeah, it sucks being OCD with your work sometimes. But hey, our names are worth a lot more than a little leather and time
  22. Right On!!! But, you're not done yet........... You're obligated to show pictures of it on the shovel.
  23. You know what I just now noticed? You left out the infamous pocket!!!
