Thanks rcsaddles for this address, I didn't know it. Are you using this rawhide for braiding ? Is it working well ?
-
Hello, I'm already braiding with kangaroo or latigo leather and I'm thinking more and more about rawhide. My question is : where can I buy a good rawhide lace ? I already bought some tandy leather laces (not rawhide) and I wasn't very happy about the quality so is the rawhide lace coming from tandy can give a nice work ? If yes, is it necessary to split or bevel it ? If not, could you tell where you are buying your rawhide ? thanks for your help

Smartphone Case For A Godzilla

Hi Tornale No goat but cow or calf not really sure .....i really do like this one kinda pearly and shiny ....One of my leather hunting day i tumbled on 1 hide ....and so many people asked for some i could not find more......then 1 year later i found 4 other hides....can tell you that i jumped on the opportunity it works very fine not too stretchy, not too thick I made some different stuff with this one from belts to saddles.....passing by saddlebags or headstals below you can check on some of them :D = https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=558591720845146&set=a.558591710845147.1073741828.228667370504251&type=3&theater https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=460114534026199&set=a.228675367170118.48869.228667370504251&type=3&theater https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=512576068780045&set=a.228675367170118.48869.228667370504251&type=3&theater https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=435190889851897&set=a.228675367170118.48869.228667370504251&type=3&theater https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=604381716266146&set=a.497426506961668.1073741825.228667370504251&type=3&theater https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=602427056461612&set=a.497426506961668.1073741825.228667370504251&type=3&theater -
Smartphone Case For A Godzilla
Aurelie replied to Aurelie's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
thanks guys funny though that only "males" commented on it and found it "fun" As Dirtclod mentionned it = it 's not too "girly"girly" but still a "bit " flashy we will see how well this case ages with my Godzilla ways.... -
Hello everybody! Here i am! i definitely walked beyond the line and reached "the dark side" (aka smartphone land) So i had to build up a case for the "offending object".....It had to be strong , protecting and useful since i am known to be a "Godzilla" with my stuff (not on purpose though :D ) and not too "girly girly"
-
Easy depends on : 1/ what kind of saddle i do = flate plates or inskirts 2/ if i ruin something (seat/fork ) - crossing fingers here i have ruined nothing for a while now but it s an eventuallity and i would say : it depends how many saddles you've already done and how many leather scraps you have..... I am using 2 and a half sides or 2 sides not for so long.....time to build up my scraps stock (those natsty things are useful when building up a ground seat for example ) when you start from nothing : everything must be placed on your side.....hence you re using more leather.... The 2 first saddles i have built...i ruined 1 seat, 3 forks.....took me 3 sides for each saddles SO? keep faith You re doiing it right

thanks for you opinion

Hope you're not too cold though Enjoy the ride with Dale -
:D good rephrasing...that's what i had in my mind
-
beware of staying "straight" and "level" with the floor with your rigging on both side => really important better stay "good" technically and drop a bit the "esthetic" rather than the other way around.....(my opinion at least) you will not have big troubles with back jockeys ...... you will just have a kind of "Barrel Look" and small Back jockey if it really bother you = just make another pair of skirts (if yuo're not short of leather and if you really want a "traditionnal" look ) :D
-
hum.... just my 2 cents.....other will give their toughts if they want 1/ you re with flate plates so the back rigging will be attached to the flat plates (not the skirts) = here no troubles in paradise (you do have a lot of room between the back rigging and the sirt (the other way around would be a problem) 2/ regarding the skirts (i am talking for myself ) : i ve been taught that skirts had a play in "support" (i won't discuss that further because this is a touchy subject - i do not care if people agree or not / i do not care to enter an endless discussion about who is right or wrong) SO i would tend to say : i would do them a bit wider than that for a ranch BUT i would do that kind of skirts for a Barrel ANYWAY : i think that you can stay with that AND keep in mind this thought for your next saddle .... I do not think that there is a "big" problem technically speaking but more an esthetical one Keep going

Have you tried the European import Herman and Oak leather from Logis de Cordes (France)? They have skirting, tooling leather in many thickness and color And it just tools amazingly especially the chestnut (my fav')
