To help me understand: Isn't rosin cooked pine sap? I had some sap, cooked it and mixed it (on a double boiler). Mixed it in with some bees wax (about 90% wax). It worked but the two did not really want to mix, took constant stiring. Like oil and water just not as bad. Poored it into a mold and now have little cakes of it. Seems far more sticky than the wax alone, which I believe is the idea. Did I do it right or an I way off here?

It is usually a back door type item. I got a small pile of it from the lab that they had overexposed, just was there at the correct time. They are more picky nowdays from the new laws, names and personal info must be removed. Sometimes the Vets offices will have it too. Just ask every time you are at a Doctor or if you know someone who works for one.

I like the butterflies on the flowers, nice added touch. Aaron

As others have said, the kits are best used as patterns. The leather is usually very bad quality (the worst) and the holes are almost always mispunched, they are always too big. Buy a kit, save the pieces for a pattern and the instructions till you get it figured out. Aaron

Glue it to a piece of xray film. Leather on each side.

What Should I Apply To Leather For Burnishing?

Where Can I Get A V Belt Locally?
electrathon replied to billymac814's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Be cautious because automotive V belts are a differant angle than machine belts are. Many auto places will have machine belts too, but be aware they are differant. If the guy behind the counter does not know/understand the differance he is likely selling you an automotive belt, it will slip. -

A Long Leftie
electrathon replied to Spincycle's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
At the very least I would want the bottom pocket to come up the gun farther. That way it may come loose but would not fall out so easily. Aaron -
I realize not wanting to stabalize it, but if you don't, it is going to crack. Maybe not now, but if you don't keep it in a climate controled area it will over time. The walls are just too thin on the wood. What size reams are you using? I have a number of spares. Aaron
-
If you don't stabalize the wood you will have splitting problems, either notw or two years from now. Wood swells and shrinks constantly. I hope you get the issues worked out and make a pocketfull of money doing these. Aaron

A Long Leftie
electrathon replied to Spincycle's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
I would definatly be worried that nothing is holding it in but one snap. Seems like it would be very easy to have the gun flip out and fall with very little pull on the rear of the stock. -
Complain to the corporate leval. The managers are supposed to do whatever to make you happy. Corporate would tell them to take it back. If you have one of the worthless managers that will not do his job go over his head. I have dealt with three managers so far. Two were/are wonderfull to work with and one was worthless (the worthless one was famous for not honoring waranty too).

How I Get Two Tone Colours On My Makers Stamp
electrathon replied to OdinUK's topic in How Do I Do That?
Very cool. I really like this. -
If you take the threaded part out you will see it is basicly a bolt with a slot/grove gut near the end. the slot is about twice as wide as it should be, that is why the blade wiggles up and down so much, nothing to hold it firm in place. If you make a new bolt with a narrower slot the blade will no longer wiggle and your grove will be consistant in cut depth. I started to fix mine a few weeks ago. Of course the parts are laying on my workbench. If I have time I will try to get to it this weekend and take pics of the repair. Aaron
-
I can't fix my post because the site will not allow editing, GRRR. You need to take a BOLT. Not sure where the word HOLE came from.
-
The slot is WAY to wide. Teh repair is to take a hole and cut a slot in it the exact width as the top of the blade. Easy fix on a lathe, hard by hand.

Dye the belt. Paint the letters. Red dye will not cover. Red paint will. -

For me the best buys were also Barry King Tools, mainly bevelers. I have tried and tried to explain to people how much differnace it makes. No one will listen till you make them use them. Then they make the order. Worst buys ever were craft tools. I bough a lot of them when I was getting started (I am a tool addict). I rarely use them any more, but I do have hundreds (not a typo) that I have ended up with when I have bought others out in the last few years.
