I could not understand this either. A company gets good reviews so the thread is locked. It is my understanding that locking a thread is reserved to stop bickering.

Are Pricking Irons And Pricking Wheels The Same?
electrathon replied to DavidL's topic in Sewing Leather
http://www.goodsjapan.jp/category?top_searchString=pricking+iron&searchString=pricking+iron Awsome quality for the price. Ironss are tapped part way in to mark the hole. They are not punches. I doubt you could do even close to the same thing with a wheel, I could be wrong. Aaron -
I still always use loc eye needles. For a punch I have not found anything that even comes close to the pliers style punches from Craft Japan. Not sure of the link right now. They are fast, simple and very easy to use. Perfect slots every time. It is how I got them so nice on the wallet posted above. Aaron

I would work off the bench surface or my lap, depending on exactly what it is. Bypass the pony. Aaron

Did you skin them so that you can make a trapper hat from the fur? Aaron

Every time I think my work looks good, I see something like this and realize how much I need to learn. It looks spectacular. Aaron

It is always great to get prize money too, but in all fairness there wsa no entry fee either. The funny thing is I entered two things that were very nice. I took first place on both (in seperaty catagories) but the one that took best of show was more flashy. The Bible cover was better, but the notebook caught you eye more. I convinced a friend who is new to tooling (less than a year) to enter something too and she got a ribon for it. I am hoping it serves as motivation to keep her learning.

Thanks for the kind words. No money for winning, just ribbons. It was fun entering stuff. Contests are great because they make me strive to do better work. Aaron

I entered a few items I made at the county fair. Took a couple first place ribbons and class champion (best in show). I am excired.

Heck, If I was being hostile or negative I apologize. I thought it wsa funny.

Well, maybe... If you sold them as natural materials you may have some explaining to do.

My understanding is the same. It is ARTIFICIAL sinew. If you want to use it, get some afrificial leather and go to town. Aaron

I use it full strenght. Apply it with a piece of sheep wool. I put on one wet coat making sure to get it into all of the cracks and crevices. I then take a piece of dry wool and gently try to wipe it all back off. Lifting out any that has pooled in the background areas. Keep gently wiping till it starts to tack up (will not take too long). Doing it this way keeps it from being shiney, more of a semi-gloss. It also will not crack when flexed. Every time I have used more than one coat it tends to crack when bent. -
New Site To Sell Your Work On! Craftstack.com!
electrathon replied to craftstack's topic in Old/Sold
My comment is not about the site but about the name. Craft stack does not seem to flow to me. Often times a name can cripple a busness. Also, if I am wrong about that I would still be carefull about using the word craft. It brings to mind glitter and hot glue on a t-shirt. I do hope you do well. Aaron -
"decorative Stitching" On Wallets?

If I was making it, I would sew across the top. Aaron -
What Did You Do With Leather, Today.
electrathon replied to electrathon's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
Today I finished a knife sheath I have been working on. -
The ones I have made had sheepskin glued to the inside of the cuff. I did not sew but used barge cement. They held up well.

I don't have any real advice but can give you a bump by saying this: All I can picture is a harness on a tasmanian devil talking to bugs bunny. Aaron

I break them all the time. I think the huge long eye and soft metal on the needles is a bad combination. I also undersize all the holes so they are very tight on the thread. I think this looks better than potholes in the leather. Aaron

I have sold 50 of these and still have a huge amount left.

You did not list where you live. Chan Geer is going to be teaching in Portland Oregon next month. One of the things he will be teaching is wallet interiors design and construction. Contact me if interested. Aaron
