  1. You use 3 threads and move forwards one one the front and two on the rear, stagering forwards. The back will not look as good as the front.
  2. 18 is real small unless you are sewing with very small thread (like a 69, whis is far to small for sewing veg tan).
  3. I think it is a 14 guage needle. You will not find them at most sewing stores, they are pretty big (needs to be the diamiter of what you were using in the drill press). Aaron
  4. DO NOT drill the holes separatly, when you assemble it will not line up. Funny because I taught basic hand sewing this morning and the same issue came up. Mark your holes, glue your pieces togeather then poke your holes. To drill the holes use a large sewing machine needle (tandy sells them) in a dremel. It will drill good holes, it does not remove leather like a drill does and it is fast and easy. Aaron
  5. In general: Round holes are for round lace, flat holes (slots) are for flat lace. Best lacing punches I have found: http://www.vendio.com/stores/goodsjapan/category/lacing-chisels/catId=4252436 The most common one is the one listed as out of stock.
  6. I have a Barry King handle on my Douglas awl blade. Fits just fine.
  7. Did you check with the vendor putting on the show? They already have a policy, just want you to have one too so they do not have to file a claim. Sometimes they will let you tag onto their policy though. If you (and others) all pay part of thier insurance then they get it for free. Aaron
  8. They did a great job with the show this year, it did go very well. Aaron
  9. I can almost guaranty you that you are holding the tool improperly. Most people death grip the tool and in the process bend your thumb joint backwards. The proper ergonomic is to bend your thumb outwards. Aaron
  10. Siegals was selling natural death hides a while back. Don't know if any of it is still around. There is a way long thread on here about it a couple years ago. Aaron
  11. One issue I did run into before I got the overexposed ones was the new HIPPA law. I was told if they had images/information on them that they could not let me have them.
  12. The steel that the Tandy blades is made out if is very soft. You will do far better to start with am allen wrench or a drill bit. Both a commonly available and are made from quality steel. Aaron
  13. The best you will be able to buy is Chaylor Fenelli from Springfield leather. They are not great, but are acceptable. No one sells any that are top notch. Many people make thier own.
  14. I got a pile if film sheets from the Dr office. He had a pile of overexposed films.
  15. I can likely come up with a set of type if you are interested. You must press them, not hit them. Price would depend on size, font and how many of each letter. In general letterpress font is more "normal" style lettering than the weird loopy letters that tandy sells. Aaron
  16. You are a year off but spoke up just in time. Ferdco is out of business but Sheridan Leather outfitters took over the show. There are more classes this year than ever before, Chan Geer is even going to be there teaching. I will be up there Thursday and Friday, many others from the Portland area will be there too. 17. Bill, You have definatly earned the title of ambasador. Recently it has seemed that the title of ambasador was given to those who start flame wars, I am glad to see you stepping up and trying to make others feel at home and not feel inferior with your input. I think all of us would do well to look to you as a leader. I am humbled hy your attitude and am honored to give you respect. Aaron
  18. It is differant and looks great. I don't generally like differant, I like this one. Aaron
  19. This statement is why your work looks so good. The hairs on the back og my neck stand up every time I hear someone say "no one will notice". You best work is considered the worst work you do. This holster looks great! Aaron
