Ok so in my book $350 for a wallet is crazy. I could not charge that much for a wallet. But to each his own. I don't claim to be a pro. I'm not trying to undercut anybody. Just like you I charge what I charge I'm still new to the game. I feel like what I charge covers my work that I do. And as I improve and I get better at what I do then yes I will charge more.

My thoughts are you are make a one off wallet with a custom design you need to get paid for your work. If the customer is asking for a custom piece which takes time to draw up and to cut and tool then dye and then make the interior and then stitch together and slick edges and do whatever it is you do. You need to get paid for that. even if it is a hobby it still takes time and you shouldn't be working for free. Yes you may have 20 dollar into material but how much time do you have involved. Now charging $350 for a wallet is crazy. But for a custom wallet I charge no less then $90. Depending on how much they want done with lots of tooling and detail dyeing it goes up from there. Now if it a random stamp design that you did just for fun and are just making them I start those at $75. If people want to pay $20-$30 dollars for a wallet then let them go buy an off the shelf wallet. I do not try and compete with them. I don't compete with anybody. You should not be trying to keep up with the other leather worker down the street or the next town over. You should only compete with yourself. Make each wallet better then the last. Learn from each wallet. If your going to try and make some extra cash on the side you don't want to be known as the cheap guy. They customer is paying for a HANDMADE item from a craftsmen. Just my .02.

So I had a request to make a belt with "DIE LIVING" with a maple leaf background. She wanted the belt brown with orange leafs and pink flowers. This is what it looked like when I gave it to the customer yesterday.

If your going to be in New York we would have to meet in the middle. That is quite the trip for me to get to NY and the same goes for you getting to Washington State. But hey you never know.

I have always been a fan of tattoo's. Since I can't get all the ink that i want I tool it on leather. Not quite the same fix but close. So I decided to do a Sailor Jerry Theme "Homeward Bound" long wallet for fun. This is what it ended up looking like

Me personally I think it depends on the design. I have a version of a trucker wallet that I made and I decided to do a mirror image of a design on the wallet with a horse shoe in the middle. I have been sitting on this thing and using it for about six months now. And the tooling is holding up in the middle and shows no sign of the leather wearing out where i have made the cut and the tooling. I'm also working on a Sailor Jerry theme wallet now with a ship and a rose. All the detail would have been in the center of the wallet so when it was folded over it would look bad. That one I decided to Put the ship on one side then the words "homeward bound" on the other. That is just my .02 cents

Good looking card wallet. I like the color. And I feel for ya with the long distance and the immigration paperwork. My wife is from BC Canada. Met her in Washington state at a horse trainers ranch were she was apprenticing and I was up there to have a fun 4th of July weekend. Got to talking and texting as much as we could. Dated long distance for about 6 months and saw each other as much as possible. Asked her to marry me in Canada a couple days after Valentines day. Got Married and started the paper work for her green card. It was alot of time and money but got it all finished up. And a few months ago she got her permanent green card with the conditional residency removed . We have been together for 3 years now.

nice work on both. Like the knife. Wish I had the tools to make knifes. I made one from an old file and it turned out pretty cool. But had to go over to my dads shop to make it. He has all the good tools.

nice work. The design is awesome. I do believe it was your design I modeled my wallet from and you were kind enough to share how the card slots work. I have made two wallets for myself with that style of Inside and it has not failed me yet. So thank you for that.
