Looking for a holster pattern for a 45 .......7 1/2" Ruger Vacq . The holster Kurt Russell wore in Tombstone. More than happy to purchase one Not sure if it a Cattleman or Cheyenne with the Mexican loop designed changed. Looking to make it has a gift for a friend and I do not have a dummy gun or the real gun to make a pattern. Thank you in advance

If you weld or know someone that can take a pair of vice grips and on one side weld a circle piece of metal and glue down a piece of rubber. On the other side weld a washer with a rubber o-ring. It allows you to tighten the chicago screw without I spinning. I would not use contact cement because you only want to stop them from coming loose by accident but you or your customer may need to take them off in the future. Just my 2 cents.

I use Weldwood but I leave it for 1-2 hours before I put my 2 pieces of leather together. I don't have any problems with my edges at all. Also a little trick I use is I put the can in hot water for awhile, shake it up then open the can and pour it into clear plastic bottle like you would use for mustard. I find I make less of a mess and can put the glue right where I want it.

Get a stitching pony. I don't know what tools you have but would be happy to help you out. Making one is not hard but time consuming. Check out you tube videos. What is your experience level?

Go to a fabric store and you can get plastic of different thickness. Comes on a picture roll used to cover tablecloths. It works great!

The key is to find something you like to use and is comfortable to use. Whatever you use make sure it doesn't have and knicks in it otherwise it will mark up your leather. I also have a pointed antler that I use for small places.

Yes. Always make one first, make your adjustments as needed, make another out of leather if your satisfied then you can make your pattern out of plastic if that is what you want to use. I also mark on my patterns little notes like steps in the process of putting that item together, weight of leather used and the size of my holes punched. I find I save on leather due to less mistakes and don't waste that much time trying to remember how I made something in the past. Also being organized in your work area really helps.

I think it looks nice the way it is. Trying to take off the Leather Balm could end up with throwing your album in the garbage. I would keep it as is and mark it as a lesson learned. JMO

I use clip board. I buy large sheets at a printer. Easy to cut and lasts a long time.

When I want to hand sew a project I use chisel also. First I groove my sewing line then use my chisel to punch all my holes. If your holes from your chisel are leaving marks from pulling it out of the leather then you need to sharpen your chisels. If you have a buffer I would use the white rouge and sharpen your chisels or use a small file. I hope this helps. I love to hand sew but my hands just can't take it anymore so I had to buy a sewing machine.
