This is a Dürkopp 17 patcher. They came with 3 different size hooks / bobbins. Parts are no longer available since about the 1940´s / 1950´s nothing is made for them anymore. The machines are really nice when clean at set up properly. I once restored an earlier short arm version of it. You find a list of sub classes in this thread here: Find more about the Dürkopp 17 here: https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=dürkopp+17+site%3Aleatherworker.net

Casting is different yes so lets say the Singer 7 is the predecessor of the Seiko but it shares certain parts with the earlier Singer 7.

Is Pfaff 331 a good all-round sewing machine?
Constabulary replied to trikvart's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
alright so you know more than we do. Test it before you buy it. That's the best advice cause we do not know what else is controlled by air or solenoid and we do not know the machine subclass to figure how it could be set up. I mean that - test it to see if it suits your needs. But let me say this - these old (approx 1990´s) EFKAS are nice when they work but can be a a pain to repair (expensive if possible at all) and replacing motors that control "bells & whistle" can be challenging and expensive too. If it was me I most likely would not buy it - BUT again better test it and see what it does but if the motor cannot control all installed bells & whistles don´t buy it. My 2 cents. -
maybe it is a chain stitch machine then it does not need a bottom thread. EDIT: No - has shuttle hook so it has a bobbin. http://www.hightex-solution.com/a/Products/machine/Programmable_sewing_m/2021/0218/208.html they wound the bobbin from the blue spool. See the bobbin winder with blue threaded bobbin on the top of the machine? Using 2 spools is quite common in the sewing industries. One for top thread (you can leave machine threaded) and wind the bobbin from the 2nd spool.

Is Pfaff 331 a good all-round sewing machine?
Constabulary replied to trikvart's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
that appears to the a short stitch length / fixed stitch length machine. Looks like stitch length lever is missing / has none because of a fixed stitch length. Note the short cutout in the throat plate so it cannot be a long stitch length. I doubt you will be happy with it. Maybe a flat bed machine is better for you flat work. In another forum a member once called machines like this "savantism sewing machine" cause it can do ONE task very well but is not good for other tasks. -
Bernina 217N-08 Slide plate missing
Constabulary replied to Scarolamade's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I found this parts book for 217 Machines on the Artisan Sewing Machines website so I´d say Artisan is probably a source for the plate. I their parts book the slide plate has the same number. https://artisansew.com/singleneedle.html Scroll down for the 217 WM217partsbook.pdf -
Bernina 217N-08 Slide plate missing
Constabulary replied to Scarolamade's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Has the machine a drawer? Maybe it´s in there. But they are still available new f.i. (UK dealer) https://www.trojansewing.co.uk/product/bernina-217-slide-plate-302-286-040/ Or take some measures and post them maybe we can compare something or check ebay cause the Chinese parts dealers of put the measure in their pictures. -
Seiko SLH-2B I guess https://www.seiko-sewing.co.jp/en/products/slhseries/ more or less the younger daughter of the ancient Singer 7. Thats where the 7 comes from - most likely.

Type of needle for thin pliable leather.
Constabulary replied to DG1's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
needle tip depends on what seam appearance you want to achieve - maybe this will give you an idea what cutting point leather needles are available: https://www.schmetz.com/en/industrial-needles/needle-compass/cutting-points/ You can also download a needle point data sheet here: https://www.schmetz.com/mm/media/en/web/7_tochtergesellschaften/bilder_18/schmetz/pdfs_4/infoblaetter/schmetz_db_schneidspitzen_6s_20190510_en.pdf -
Welcome to the new world and to the 21st Century (Reminds me of Bad Religion - 21st Century boy) Well, thats how it works today. I once ordered a router and it arrived badly packed up and damaged - the slide plate broke. Reported a damage got a full refund and I asked where to send the broken machine they said I can keep it if I want or they send me a return label - well I kept it and installed it to a router table so the machine was free Now I have 2 routers. Same thing with eccentric sander - the dust container was broke and I got 50% refund - glued the container with super glue and soda so I got it quite cheap.J just some optical issues (well its a sander WTFC) BTW - I never ever buy from Amazon - when you compare prices they seldom have the best price. Ebay often is cheaper. But to each his own.

Where are all the used class 26???
Constabulary replied to Timmmm's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
Either they sell fast when the price is right or there are just none on the 2nd hand market cause they are still in use. -
Singer 51W SV 2 Post Bed Machine Restoration
Constabulary replied to Constabulary's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
This is the closest I ever found for the early W&W based machines. The difference often were just the accessories that were included but the "main machine" of the is the same or at least very similar. Singer 51w100 and 52w100 - instructions for using and adjusting.pdf -
Please HELP!!! What is this hardware!?!?

aren´t there domed Chicago screws? Maybe there are other styles but I just found this: https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/639081610/10set-screw-rivets-15mm-dome-rivets -
Oil pump for Consew 220 fat low speed
Constabulary replied to wilsonintexas's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I´d oil it manually. IMO a different / new oil pump it too much fuzz for an old machine like this. It even has no reverse right? Just oil it manually as lets say a Singer 96K or similar. -
I would look for bespoke shoe / boot makers in your area or other states and contact them. Maybe some will travel for nice old machines. https://www.google.com/search?q=bespoke+shoe+boot+makers+idaho Or look for shoe machinery companies who sell and / or rebuild such machines. Like https://www.gatewayshoemachine.com http://landisinternational.ca/ca-en/

@Antonispaul the cam box has 2 levers, when looking from the front and from above the left one is to enable / disable the cam reader and the right one if for the "reader finger" that is following outlines of the cam. Maybe the set screw of the reader finger lever is lose? I only can guess.

Is A Singer 153 K 102 Equal To A 31-15
Constabulary replied to Suemi's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
@kgg - the 1st post from Suemi is 12 years old Bugg just replied recently. -
basically a new needle bar. Your machine is the 2nd type 51w and needs a 6.35mm needle bar as it was used in the Singer 111w triple feed machines. Like this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/152426180931 But you have to shorten it. LW member @eddo has done this with his machine too:

Is A Singer 153 K 102 Equal To A 31-15
Constabulary replied to Suemi's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
@Bugg how can we know if you messed up? We don´t know the condition of your machine and we don´t know what you want to sew with this machine. Please post pictures and let us know what you want to sew and how thick the material will be (all layers together). -
right, it is counter productive but you never know what is going on the other end so patience sometimes is a good advise. Life is more that just having something for sale now and then. Good luck with the machine.

Issue changing stitch length SInger 111W156
Constabulary replied to bnsmith's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
it is not supposed to go all the way around when you have pushed the plunger for adjusting the stitch length - you have a stop at the longest stitch @ 5SPI and then at the shortest stitch @ 32 SPI (32 SPI is a guess). It only goes all the way around when the plunger is not pushed in. -
Singer 31-15 hook not catching needle thread
Constabulary replied to Joeyp's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Thats for sure is not normal. Imagine the hook falls out when sewing with full speed. Are you sure your shuttle race is complete? I´d check the parts list or compare with online offers. Singer 31 shuttle race and hooks are fairly cheap. I´d probably buy them new. -
111W bobbin tension specification
Constabulary replied to AlZilla's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I never needed any weights for adjusting tension and afaik there are no "official" weights specs cause tension depends on material / needle / thread thickness and how tight you want the stitch. So it basically it is playing with the top and bottom tension until you have achieved what you need. I know there are "science folks" who need numbers for everything but I actually never needed that - no matter what machine I used.. -
I have not touched or seen a 341 clone yet but aren´t there additional accessories available? I mean there are several "341 clones" out there but no other feed dogs available? I cannot imagine that. EDIT: How is this one - is the hole smaller? https://www.szwalnia.pl/gb/50wf3-086-feed-dog-for-tw3-341 EDIT II: what about singer 153 / Consew 227 / Seiko CW-8B feed dogs? Are they different or could they fit? https://www.ebay.com/itm/162119694765 https://www.college-sewing.co.uk/13020-feed-seiko-cw-8b-generic.html https://www.college-sewing.co.uk/13020s-feed-seiko-cw-8b-genuine.html
