  1. the 2 classics I have owned, used the same shuttle as a 441 Juki and a 205 adler. they both used 794 needles just like the 441 and 205 but the classics needle bar could be set to use 328 series needles which goes down to smaller sizes in leather points than the longer 794 needles. I do not know if the *9 has this feature or not. I really liked the first classic I had and wish I had not sold it. I built my own table for it and liked the stand much better than the factory one on the second machine. BUT that was just me. Nothing wrong with the stand on the second machine and I would be satisfied with it as my only machine in my saddle shop. I currently use and have used cobra class 4's for the last 9 years and get along fine with them. I would recommend you buy a new machine if you are going to purchase a 441 clone for your first machine. The support you get from Steve or Bob is priceless. Buy one off of Ebay or Craigslist and you are on your own. I have been building saddles for a long time and have never run 415 thread through one of my machines. I don't know if harness makers use it or not. 794 needles go as large as 250/25. HTH, Just my opinion which isn't worth much.
  2. Are the right or left toe foot available to be bought for this machine? Thanks
  3. This machine is on Ebay this morning.
  4. Any one have a Luberto's Classic in good shape they would like to sell. Sold mine several years ago. Would like to have it back. Thanks Ken
  5. I am looking for a supplier of pfaff parts. I need parts for the knee lifter on my pfaff 545. the lifting bracket link on the back of the machine+ attaching screw. Also need Lifting bracket on the bottom the knee lifter. Any help is greatly appreciated. Ken
  6. The one I had was built by Seiko badged Consew.
  7. The hook on the one I had was the same as in my Cobra class 4 and it was about 1/32 to 1/16th " too big. Fit in the race but would not let the thread pass between the driver and shuttle.
  8. I had one of these a couple of years ago. It was messed up pretty bad. The shuttle was a bit too big and I ended up getting a slightly smaller one and that took care of that. I got the parts I needed from cambell/bosworth and they were great, very helpful. I bought one of Tony Luberto's service videos and without it, it would have been tough for me. A bargain. I may have it around here someplace. It was a super good machine when I finally got everything right. Sewed really good and tight stitches.
  9. I had one at one time and although it was a bottom feed machine, it worked good, pulled a good stitch and if I remember right it sewed about 1/2 inch max. I don't remember how well it did with real thin stuff. good machine, I wish I had kept it. HTH. Ken
  10. I believe he is talking about hand sewing the horn and cantle binding by hand when referring to the two needles, not the Cobra Class 4.
  11. I have an 810 Techsew sewing machine in like new condition for sale. Included is what is in the pictures. It is priced at $750. here at Wessington Springs, SD. Really don't want to ship. I will be headed to central Kansas in the next couple of weeks and can bring it that far for free if someone in that part of the country needs it. It has had maybe a couple of hours use. I was only able to post one picture, if you want more, let me know. Included are 10 packs of needles, extra feet, oil and manual. PM me if interested.
  12. I believe I saw that Adler you are talking about on the Craigslist out of OKC. I suspect it might be a moccasin machine and may or may not have a feed system if it is one. Check it out closely. Those adlers without a feed show up on EBay every once in a while. I imagine some people are pretty sick of their purchase and soon! The one I saw I think, if I remember right is a 205- something M. If it is a regular 205-37 something, you will love it if it is not worn out and that would probably be caused by neglect. HTH.
  13. SOLD!!! Thank you, tandemaniac.
  14. Ken Nelson 202 blowers Ave. N Wessington Springs, SD 57382 I will get it packaged and ready to ship. Thank you. Ken
  15. Yes, it is still available.
  16. Sounds like she is dreaming. No way that should change the way the stirrups hang. I had a shop on main street for a number of years and I heard some pretty weird stuff. That is why I have a "closed" shop now. Seldom did I get people in that actually asked for advice and admitted they were uninformed. most are experts and a lot of my customers were and a lot were not. Like an old cowboy that coached me a lot clear back in the day once told me, "If you practice doing something wrong-you just get better at doing it wrong!"" That describes a good portion of the horse owners I encountered in my life. You have a customers relations situation unfolding that I do not envy .
  17. Update: I got a "bad' check for this splitter and still have it for sale. I got the extra blade back for it, so it has a brand new extra blade for it. I will take the $450 with the new blade but you will be responsible for shipping if I include the extra blade. US Postal Money order or I hold you check for a week. I need to figure out how to take paypal as I spend a lot of money through them. LOL
  18. Harry Adams book Saddle Makers Shop Manual has an illustrated section on hanging riggins in saddles that is easy and you can get them spot on using his method. I don't know of any established saddle makers that use a jig but I am sure they are out there. There are a lot of ways to get it done correctly. HTH. Ken
  19. It is hard to beat a good old crank skiver for heavy leather. They come up on ebay once in a while. I am surprised someone isn't have them reproduced in China. Landis the top one. HTH
  20. The Singer 45 was on a treadle stand at one time. Occasionally, you will see one for sale.
  21. I still have this bench spllitter and would like to see it go.
  22. Nope, You should use bark tanned shearling to line saddles. None of those are. Sorry Ken
