  1. Sheridan Leather carries Mossy Oak camo. (307) 674 6679
  2. John, yeah it's a traditional leather washer handle and I used normal wood lathe tools to shape it then sanded it right down to 600 grit and burnished it just like the edges on veg tan. Bruce, the wiggler is 1 1/8 inch long...I hope he likes it. Thank you both for your kind comments.
  3. Here is a maul and a few stamps that I recently finished. Candace bought me a wood lathe for Christmas and I've been tryin to wear it out buy building tool handles and stamp mauls. I am not offering them for sale, just makin a few for friends. Same goes for the stamp tools, I don't make many to sell and these are trade goods that are already traded.
  4. Tim is right on the money. It is called a number 10 buckle and is available in stainless or solid brass
  5. "Western Tack Tips" and "More Western Tack Tips" are very good books. Tom Hall is the author and they are available from Hidecrafter
  6. Well once again, Candace went crazy. She got me a portable air compressor( I'll be able to use it on the air/hydraulic jack for my homemade clicker press) and a 12" wood lathe. I've already built a replacement handle for my crank skiver and a replacement handle for my dad's Pearson stitcher. Her parents bought me a big 4 drawer/1 door rolling tool cabinet with butcher block top. I instantly turned that into my lathe/drill press station on top and filled the cabinet with other power tools and the drawers with wrenches, screwdrivers, drillbits...that were all laying on shelves in the shop. Hope everyone else had a great holiday!!
  7. Barra, I lap skived and glued the handles together on what would become the bottom side. There is no false bottom. I just tacked the handles on and glued the tooled ovals on while it was flat, stitched everything on and then glued the piping and gusset in and stitched the whole deal together then beat the hell out of it to turn it right side out.
  8. Hilly, there are stamps available that are similar. Chuck Smith makes what is called a 3/4 flower center and are available in 3 sizes. They have a plain center dome.
  9. Here are a couple pics of a gear bag I built before Christmas. The body is made of tan apron split from Caledon Leather in Calgary, the tooling is H.O. the latigo is Big Horn from Sheridan Leather and the piping was bought on eBay. I had some trouble with streaks in the dark brown dye but I think that had something to do with how chilly my shop was and the fact that things weren't drying properly!!
  10. You're pretty fortunate to get to do an order for an outfit like that!! Sounds like you would have had an easier time using a push beveller on them, or maybe even Jeremiah Watt's wheel beveller. Both tools are designed for straight lines.
  11. Narrower fringe and a one inch back belt is plenty Tim. You are above the learning curve on most of your work lately...keep it up!
  12. Brettun's Village sells the blue end punches, bag punches and arch punches. They are listed in the suppliers list on the main page
  13. Waterhouse and Springfield leather both carry high embossed in a good selection of colors
  14. Dink, My bench is 24" deep. My map drawers are under my cutting table because they wouldn't have fit underneath the bench. Wood, The realtor kept bugging me cause I wouldn't say anything about the house. I told him that as long as it was warm in the winter and had a bedroom, bathroom and kitchen that was all I needed cause the shop would be all that matters!!
  15. Barra, That's only my 5th saddle, so I'm not ready to change my profile yet. But thank you for the implied compliment.
  16. Glad I can make people jealous!!! Yes I made the cinch, actually Candace ties the bodies and I do the diamonds. The carving was done by a friend and fellow L.W. member, Steve Mason. The tv is also a dvd/cd player so there's always entertainment besides the tap tap tap on my stamp rock. I am a full time carpenter, so I hope my wood working skills are decent. Thanks for taking a look
  17. LOL...sorry but that's not a mirror, it's a piece of plate glass that I skive on.
  18. Thanks everyone for the comments. Tim, the metalworking room is to the left of what you see in the 1st pic. To the right is the sewing machine/water cooler/beer fridge wall which also contains the walk in door. Bonnie, the other three walls are nothing exciting except for the things I just described to Tim. One wall has 6' tall shelves containing things that won't be in my shop come spring once I have a shed built to keep them in!!
  19. As some of you may know, Candace and I bought a place in May. I told her when we were shopping that it had to have a building on site that would be suitable for my shop. Well...here are a few pics. The shop is 24' X 24' with 10'6" ceilings. I have 14, 4' flourescent fixtures with daybright tubes. You'll notice there are no windows which I would like to have somedays, but really like the fact that people that stop in can't snoop through them to see what's inside for them to steal if they are so inclined!! My cutting table is 8 X 8 and has substantial storage underneath, including a set of blueprint/map drawers for patterns.
  20. This saddle left the shop a couple weeks ago and I just got around to getting some pics uploaded. It went to the same home as the saddle that I won the Kamloops competition with. It's built on a Bill bean tree with 93 degree bars. The inlay and buck rolls are shark
  21. Hey all, sorry if it seems like I've been hiding, but it's been real busy in the shop and busier at work. Anyways here's a wallet that I just finished to ship to Montana for a Christmas gift. I enjoy orders like these...quick and easy
