I had to resize the second two pictures in order to post them.

I haven't posted for quite a while and thought I'd share a couple of recent projects. The first one is a large, zippered bible cover with an embossed angel. The second is a small purse for a Marine Mom.

The tall one Is a 1/2 gallon (64 oz) and the shorter one is an 18 oz. flask.

That looks good Aaron. Very different. Never thought of imprinting like that in leather, do you use some sort of press? I'll be coming back to the Portland area again in July and staying until September, I'll have to look you up again. Clint

I'd like thank everyone for their compliments. I really appreciate it. I just started doing leather work about 2 1/2 years ago out of boredom in my retirement. I surprise myself every time I finish a project. Thanks again for all the kind compliments. Clint

Mike, I just requested to join the Facebook page but don't have any leatherwork posted on there as I have as much work as I want without putting any on Facebook. My name on Facebook is Clint Peters.

I don't use any glue on these. I sew a one inch strip of Velcro the full length on the ends and overlap them so the Velcro holds it all together. If you just wrap the leather around the flask and hook the Velcro it is somewhat loose, so I check where the Velcro meets then take the cover back off and over lap another 1/8th inch or so and refasten. I then start the flask into the cover from the top and force it down into the pre-fastened cover giving it a very snug fit.I make them this way so the flask can be removed for a thorough cleaning when necessary, without getting the cover wet. Thanks for the compliments. I've been getting the whiskey flasks through Amazon.com. Googling 64 oz. whiskey flasks comes up with several different suppliers at varying prices. They are quite the conversation piece. I have sold 5 of them so far and have orders for 2 more. Clint

Thanks for the compliment. On the walleye cover everything except for the fish scales and wood graining is carved and beveled. The fish scales and wood grain were painted. I then painted everything with a small brush and Angelus Acrylic Leather Paint. Everything is sealed with Supershene. The key for me is a real small brush, a lot of light, some head magnifying glasses, and staying out of the whiskey til the project is done! The wood grain on the whiskey barrell is all put in the leather using one of Tandy's pointed modeling spoons then antiqued with tan antiquing gel. Clint

I just recently finished two 64 oz. (1/2 Gallon) whiskey flask covers for a couple of customers.

Just finished this shotgun shell hip bag for a skeet trap shooter.

Mike, I learned the two tone double loop lacing from another book I picked up from Tandy. It is "Lacing and Stitching for Leathercraft". It's only a 20 page book and the two tone double loop lacing is on pages 17 & 18. Clint

Thanks for the compliment on my gun case. I was also pretty much in a quandary about the zipper as I had never done one before. I did make my gusset out of a couple of strips of veg tan and sewed the zipper tape in with my Tippmann Boss. I actually learned how to do this from Al Stohlman's Art of Making Leather Casea, volume Two. I pretty much got all the info I needed on pg.30 and pages 115 & 116. It explains the process better than I can and has easy to follow pictures and instructions. Thinking about it in advance had me baffled and worried, but once I got the book and followed the instructions it went real smooth and works flawlessly. I hope this heps you out. Clint

Had some requests for gas cap covers from my motorcycle club so this is what I came up with. The chrome cover has a tendency to blind you when the sun catches it just right and it tends to reflect in the windshield right in your line of sight. They still have to provide access to the locking gas cap.

Congratulations. I entered a pistol case, posted In the show off section a couple of weeks ago, in the Missouri State Fair and won first in my class and best of show. I plan on coming to the parking lot event at the Tandy in Gresham next Saturday, hopefully I'll get to meet you while I'm there. Clint

Tom, I use Tandy's #8019-00 swivel knife blade for most of my cuts. It's the 1/4 inch straight hollow ground blade and I use Tandy's B893 smallest checkered beveler to bevel all the tight cuts in my letters and other fine work. Hope this helps. Clint

I'd love to show up, but unfortunately I will be back in Kansas City by Sept. 7th. Our leather guild back there has virtually shut down since Tandy shut down the after hour meetings. Clint
