  1. Thank you! I was looking for something like this!!
  2. Can't wait to see!! It's always interesting to find new armor patterns Thanks!
  3. I've tried to me the frog (the one with 2 parts and 3 straps) but I can't figure out how to assemble it :-( Maybe adding some construction notes on your future patterns would be good ? :-) Tanks again for your hard work!!
  4. Good to know. I guess that using a resist would help as well, because even with block dying, I haven't near getting such a clear result. I will try with the fiebing yellow and reduce it some, because I agre that the full strenght color looks a lot more like tan than yellow. Thank all for your good counsel!
  5. I need your expertise! What color is this? (ok, I know it is yellow) but where can I get such a bright shade of yellow in dye? I have tried Fiebing, ecoflow, and even the new waterstains from Tandy, but they are all very...darker. My second question is: would I need to block dye with a Brown antique to get this effect? Thanks in advance!!
  6. Thank you for the info Winterbear. I have visited turtle feathers website and ordered some Angélus paint, along with a pretty nifty dye pen! I can't wait for the order to arrive!!!!
  7. Thanks everyone. This is a lot of help! I think I will try with Angélus acrylic since I can order it online. I'm from motréal Québec, and have no clue what Joanns is :-) I'll show you all the result I achieve, all thanks to you!
  8. Oh wow! your work is awesome!!! This is exactly what I'm looking for! What kind of resist do you use? For the white color, do you just use acrylic?
  9. Thanks for your help! I have been trying to find bone colored dye for a while now and all I've found was shoe dye. Did any of you ever tried show dye on a project? Did it come out well?
  10. Hi everyone! I was wondering how I could get a bone color on leather? Color like the pictures show here. I have tried to make a mix with acrylic color and water for a base, but the leather comes kind of shiny and dye applied after the accrylic won't stay. Any one knows what I could use? Thanks!!
  11. Oh very good! Thanks for all your help!
  12. Wow, that's perfect! Can't believe I did not find it. I have been looking fot exactly that for a while...Guess I need to change my glasses, lol Thanks again!!
  13. Hi All! I'm trying to make a hair effect on some carving. I saw a tutorial saying I would need to use a multi blade knife. Where can I find one? Tandy don't have any. Is there another tool I can use to do it? Thanks!
  14. WOW! Thanks, and yes, 3-4 inches concho is what I am looking for. and if anyone knows where to get some that are even bigger than that I would appreciate.
  15. Definetly ok. I get wacked with foam sword all the time, and my armor is made with 8-9 oz leather. don't forget to show us the result!
  16. Your work is always so perfect. How do you make those lines at the bottom of the breastplate? do you just pinch it when you mold it? or do you have other Tools? I have always wanted to make an armor with these kind of lines but I never succeeded in getting anywhere near this result
  17. I am looking for big conchos. I mean real big. I've seen many on the net adorning armors, but even tough I searched and searched, I can never find any! Can anyone tell me where I can get metal accent without going to Tandy's? Thanks
  18. I made a couple of armors and pauldrons myself. The main question here is what use will it be put to?If it needs to be combat ready, to be used with real blades, then go for armor leather (14 oz +). If it is for re enactment, and mostly just for show, then you can easily go for 8-9 oz. (This is what I use, mostly) it is a lot lighther, eaisier to cut, and way less expensive. It is heavy enough to give a convincing look but easier to work with. You can go with either veg tan lether, or not, depending on what shape and design you want to give it. If you want to Harden it and make it very hard, or if you want to mold it, that you need veg tan leather. But if you want to just cut it to fit someone and still be a bit supple, and maybe just rivet other pices of leather to it to make the design, then you can go for chrome or oïl tan. hope this was usefull for you
  19. You are sooo awesome!!! How do you harden the leather? water or Wax?
  20. I am interested too. Anything with Medieval Fantasy is interesting to me. If you have a pattern for a back scabbard that would be awesome Thanks!
  21. Well...in other post, I have mentionned that I was not making an exact copy of this armor. Also, his armor is almost an exact copy of an armor from a Video Game. So he really does not own the design. :-) I NEVER make axact copy of anything, but I liked the tint he used and the way the color gets out. I believe that the artist mentioned he did not want people to copy his armor, not his tooling and his colors. The reste of my armor may have some lines looking like it, but that's about it
  22. Silver spray paint? I haven't though of that. I'll try it. Thanks all!
