  1. How about buffalo calf? I used that for the inside of my personal wallet and think that it is amazing. I was thinking of doing a trifold made out of nothing but it.
  2. Olemanjake, good luck with the wallet. Make sure you post pics when your done so we can see
  3. Looks great. I need to do something like this too so my tools just arent rolling all over my desk.
  4. Bruce, thanks for the heads up on what some of the tools are. I will make sure not to hit them with anything.
  5. LOL Bill. had to try right? Probably could double my money for one tool from what I see on eBay.
  6. I was very happy with them. I only know what a few of the tools are for but going to take them to tandys to see what they say they are.
  7. So a friend of mine bought a barn out here to fix and turn into a garage. He calls me up and says for $40 he has a gift or me but wouldn't tell me what it is. I say ok and he comes and brings me all of what is pictured and a few more things. Said he found them in an old chest in the barn. Apparently te old old owner use to make saddles back in the day. They were in pretty bad condition so I soaked them in rust remover and after that I have been conditioning the wood. This is what they look like so far.
  8. Yup! Practice, practice, practice. My wife says I spend to much time in the basement practicing LOL.
  9. I used some of my grandfathers scraps he had laying around. The hardware was in a plastic tub for probably 9+ years and I tried to clean them. The leather was in a box. It was kind of tough but used that pure neatsoil for a few days trying to make it a little more subtle. That is why there is very little tooling. I didnt care for if the tooling design was nice, just wanted to see if the overall design worked for the watch strap. I have 3 sewing machines that my grandfather used. I have not learned to sew until recently (I have been practicing everyday on a bunch of scraps, just sewing them together) and I know it is a little uneven and not as nice as I would like but it is holding it together. I also know I need to burnish the edges better to make it look nicer. I figured that I would try to do a piece that I could use if it came out ok until I build a better one. Gabriel Forgot this pic. The watch isnt attached yet, just layed on top.
  10. Thanks Cyber. There is a restaurant out here (like everywhere) that has one day a week dedicated to bikers that is going to start back up in April. I know the owner and he said if I want to set up a booth to try to sell some stuff he would let me. Thats awesome except I have no idea how to make anything that bikers would want. I was going to start doing some belts and biker wallets so I can take some stuff with me. He asked me if I could make a custom seat so people could see and possible get some custom seat orders. It's nice to get a chance but doesnt give me a lot of time to learn how to do it. So if I could get someone to pay for all the stuff needed PLUS the custom leather seat? Is that what you mean?
  11. Gotcha! I will try with the next one I get and see how it goes over.
  12. Kevin, first of all I would like to say I think your work is awesome! You think I should do that now or wait till I become better?
  13. So what would one need to try to make a seat? I see from here a seat pan, what else? Just curious because this is one thing I would like to eventually get up too.
  14. I have the freehand groover and like it. Couldnt you use an adjustable V-gouge? I have an older one that my grandfather used way back in the day. The one I have kind of looks like a sanding block. I know those are used to make folds but couldnt it be adjusted to do what you want?
  15. They look amazing!! Great job.
  16. We are very clean people and a little OCD about the house so my wife is freaking out about the one we seen. The basement has a walkout door that leads to the back yard and from there to a big field. I have traps in every corner of the house that my dogs cannot get too. Have had them out for 3 days now and only caught one so far. When the snow gets down a litte I need to go outside and see what I need to fill up around my house.
  17. Unfortunately I have those little Jerry's in the house. I just noticed one for the first time in over 2 years. I will be sure to get the stuff high off the floor. I have 3 bins I used when I was in the military to stow away my gear. They may have got "lost" when I came back stateside lol
  18. I have huge plastic bins that full sides of leather rolled up will fit in easily. I will put a couple 2x4's down to get the bins off the floor until I can get some shelfs up. Can I ask why to raise them off the floor?
  19. Would it be ok to store the leather in a plastic bin with a lid? I have some huge ones that I could use. I was going to get the walls sealed again and put up some sort of paneling. My house was built in 1900 so I am working on upgrading from the top down. Unfortunately that means Gabriels basement workshop comes last.
  20. I have used the Iwata 4003 HP-CH Hi-Line Airbrush for awhile now. I do have 2 paasche airbrushes as well but prefer the Iwata because I have used them more than any other. I use to teach Airbrushing classes at Pacific Coast Airbrush in California back in HighSchool. As for my compressor I use the Iwata IS850 Smart Jet Air Compressor. I have two air tanks that I use when it is late/early and my family is sleeping.
  21. This is the spot I have just started setting up to do some work. I was upstairs in a small spare bedroom but decided to move downstairs so I have more room. I have an overhead lighting directly over one table. I have a lot I want to do to it but will do it slowly. On the other side of my basement I have my screenprinting and airbrushing area set up.
  22. Those came out very nice.
  23. Lucky you to know someone like that. Good source of insperation and advice if you need it. I have a few of the books as well and that is what I have been using. I also have some of those rennaisance ornament design books that have very nice old fashion style.
