  1. Glad you are busy! Same old same old here. Working leather and the occasional knife making and just keeping on...I miss the chat room friends and chat too.
  2. Thank you sir! Hope things are well on your end of the earth!
  3. Thanks Bob. On the back stitch I always try to do that. I stitched these on a needle awl campbell randall sewing machine and I struggle with back stitching with it. If you go through the same hole you can cut the stitch with the awl. So I try to go close or just next to it. I'm really not sure the best practice there. I also have left the tails and then hand back stitched which results in a better result but adds time . Good point ok burnishing the slots as I did not do that, thinking I can do that with a dowl rod maybe or the pointed end of an antler. I use a deer antler on my bench to burnish at times. Good thoughts and thanks for that!
  4. Been messing around making some Buck 110 folding knife pancake sheaths. The angled one I carved a feather and the straight one just some stamping. I played a a bit with color on the stamped one. Kind antique but not quite. Anyway open to thoughts as always. Thanks Ross
  5. Well I seem to keep adding and changing over the years. Pictured is my carving/tooling area. Its just a old.wooden desk I got at auction for A dollar. I did raise it up cause I like sitting higher with a stool I have. The drawers hold letter and number stamps, some misc tools, extra mallets etc. I also added some drawers on wheels left and right for more storage. Again part of an old desk that was gonna be tossed. In front of me are my stamps. They sit on an angled board so I can see them better and grab when needed. To my left is a holder for edgers, groovers , awls, etc etc, also left is modeling spoons, setters etc, on my right I also have stamps and swivel knives, exacto knifes and pencils, in front is my tooling stone that goes rhe whole way across, I have punches , bone creaser, and some other stuff sitting behind it. On my right is a machinist style chest I built to house fancy tools. This is clearly overkill but I like it and over time I hope to fill it with higher end leather tools. Currently it holds, some Barry king mallets which I can grab, I also have some very nice Ron's tool montana edgers, some pricier 3d stamps, etc etc. Anyway there is a great thread somewhere on leather worker with shop setups lots of great ideas. What works for you is what is best! I doubt I'll ever have a ultimate setup. But I like what I have.
  6. Dale, I have the bobcat stamp with no number. I'm not looking to get rid of it but figured you might want a picture. Good luck on the hunt those Bsa ones are tough to track down for sure Ross
  7. It's a never ending battle. I do try to keep stuff in order and slot some time.for clean up at the end of every day. I have a zillion pencils around cause I'm always eating off with them! Bandaid good point. You mean masking tape is not for bandaid hmmm....thanks chuck
  8. Thanks Bob and clearly we will. Eed pics of your shop build! My shop is my basement approx 30 x 30. It used to occupy just a desk in the corner now its basically the whole area. You eill enjoy the extra space for sure. Thank you Thanks, these are ideas I've seen from others over the years, best part is I could make them up with stuff I had around the shop!
  9. I always have things on my cutting bench. And never fails it annoys me when. I go to lay out leather. So finally I made up a little organizer for pencils, awl, scalpel, scissors, and square. Then I made up a round knife holder too. Just thought I'd share. I always enjoy seeing other folks organizational methods and have adopted some from what I've seen on here. Ross
  10. Had a fascinating chat with Joe tonight. Thanks Ross
  11. Do you have that style? Cause I've been trying to figure out a make on it for years
  12. Jay LOL, 40 hours of driving. Have you calculated the gas cost alone. I.cant even imagine.
  13. This is still sitting here. Prefer not sending it to the scrap yard. Open to trades offers etc.
  14. Thanks for the bigger pic.of your work space! I do like how that works out!
  15. Kind words Thank you. Thanks. The stamp is One made by Sergey at leatherstampstools.
  16. Thanks Tom Appreciate the compliment. Thanks, while the most common is the round knives that are like a half a circle, you can find many examples that are similar to this one. It's kinda surprising how many styles either were made or are Still made!
  17. Tim I am always amazed by the work you post. These are both great. I'm over here with a pair of Redwings to resole for myself and probably.never will! Keep up the great work. I'm curios about your tool set up too. Is that a magnetic strip holding punches etc? Thanks Ross
  18. Yep has a welt too. I made this out of scrap I had laying around which is why the two tone but I liked that too. Thank you. Thanks Chuck. I had made the round knife years ago
  19. I needed a cover to send out this half round knife. So I made a quick one but still got a bit fancy...open to thoughts always looking to improve. Ross
  20. How about that Thanka for the finding that!
  21. Yep couldnt agree more. But the ones you made are a delight .
  22. Well I had the bottom part as well it turns out. I just didn't realize it at the time. I cleaned it up and painted it. Bottom says stimpson k and A 780 and a set screw holds it in the base. I suspect it's a white elephant without corresponding matching hardware. But nice to know it's complete at least.
  23. Those are all beautiful as well as functional. My three weight bags hang thier heads in Shame!
  24. I would agree but the shape was just like the other snake skins...so it's a mystery.... Thanks for the compliments Very kind thank you. The customer was very happy as well and other than the color black for the one I was told make something nice.
