Yes I understand being new, no disrespect, just telling the truth. Another thing, don't roll your leather up, that is for shipping only.Leave it hanging.

The No. 1 thing I do is, as soon as I receive the hide I, roll it out an apply conditioner. Dry leather is no good/

That is low grade leather. You get what you pay for. I understand you had good intentions but you need to buy quality leather for great results.

I just have a dog chain along my wall an hang all my chrome-tan leather from the chain. My veg-tan an latigo I roll up an put on wooden shelves. Cardboard in my opinion is a no-no, it will dry your leather out

I used to have some non-darkening Lexol leather conditioner but I cant seem to find any more. Dose anyone know where I may buy some ? When you apply it does darken the leather but when it dries the leather returns to its natural color.

Looking to attempt making my first bag.
wlg190861 replied to bylinesupplyco's topic in How Do I Do That?
Make your own pattern. Measure the front and the back of the bag an add 1/2 inch seam allowance to all sides, same with gusset. Use pasteboard a pattern making material -

I make a lot of hand bags/purses/totes, and I like the looks of French seams but it is hard on my cb4500 cylinder arm machine. Should I be looking at a single needle or double needle post machine

I am looking into buying a post sewing machine an was looking at the Atlas brand. Has any of you used one l, if so what is your opinion on how they work
-
What I would do is put a D-ring, one on each the side of the gusset. One on the back side of the gusset ( right ) an one on the front side (left) that way it wont mater how much weight you have on either side, it will carry evenly with the shoulder strap

I know it is just used to sew my linings. I have a cb4500 for the heavy stuff. I think I will just toss it then. I have a good treadle from 1898 an it sews great. no LOSS

Yes I was hoping I could find help in finding parts for my 1910 Singer # G883240. Its a treadle head only, This machine was giving to me from a friend an I took it to my local sewing shop to have it cleaned up an gone through an there is a part missing. The knob that adjust the stitch length is on the machine but the inside piece that does the actual adjusting that attaches to the backside of the knob is missing. Where can I find parts an is there a break down photo's of the inside of this machine for repair purposes?

I have a friend that wants a wood box that he made for his tattoo equipment covered with leather. What is the best glue for this or do I need to nail the leather to the wood ? I want it to hold for years to come.

How to glue pig skin lining to very waxy Horween leather
wlg190861 replied to mickthedig's topic in How Do I Do That?
I have never worked with Horween but what I would do is scuff up the area to be bonded with sandpaper an spray both leathers with 3m super 77 spray adhesive. I like the stuff It works -
Do you have pic? You can not remove the ink but you may be able to hide the mark.

Picture of the repair needed an what machine are u using ?

I only skive 1" on the end

You don't want to use suede as a wallet linner you will rip your bills trying to get them out of the wallet, you want a smooth liner.
