it doesn't matter on where in the world it is as long as the time period is between 1000 AD to 1500 AD. if you want to show your necklace go for it as long as it was done the way it would have been made during the time period. yes a chastity belt is period, and Cheryl there is no fringe for the time period that is more modern from the 1950's invention. and yes if you want to make a belly dancing out fit go ahead because they are period for the time, just don't forget if you do make a belly dancing out fit there are male belly dancer's. jewelry is a great idea just remember to do some research on how the jewelry was made for the time period. On the June challenge I want you to step out side of your comfort zone. we are going to make things that would have been used during the time period of 1000 AD to 1500 AD. Things that would have been used are shoes, pouches, armor ether leather, plate mail or chain mail. shields, clothing, quivers, you name it. I thought this was a good challenge. I have done a belt and a pouch and a snood, a snood is an old style hair net. In this challenge i am going to try and make a sheath for my viking sward, This is a challenge for me because i am still looking for info on how to make a period sheath for the sward. the tools that would have been used during the time period would have been made by a black smith, natural carving rocks and two needles and thread.the closest things to the tools that would have been used are, a pairing knife, a pair of shears for cutting. so you can use a knife, needles and thread, glue and hand made decorative tools.

with one of our leather friends losing there house ad more then half of there tools. I was thinking if we all pitch in maybe we can get them back up. we might have to pay a bit more then posted for shipping and handling but I would do it to help another leather friend. any one else willing to help?

i wish you all the good wishes from California, my family and I went through a fire that took our house back in 1978 on the Air Force Base. We lost every thing including my mom's and dad's leather tools, My birth certificate, there marriage certificate, all of there certificates they had earned while serving. The tools were replaced with new ones but the ones that were passed down from my dad's great grandpa could not be replaced, and then in 1992 our house was robbed and the leather tools were stolen and we had to start all over again. but the only thing that matters is every one is alive and safe. I hope you are able to rebuild and I know that with some time it will be alright. I have some leather books on my computer if i can help please drop me a message and i will do what i can. thoughts and prayers for you, your husband, and the fur baby's and any other animal baby's that rely on you for love and care.

Cheryl the cat but is good, but the tail doesn't flair out when you get close to the tip. On the cats tail going from the but it should tapper down as you start going to the tip of the tail. Mairi

Contact your local SCA guild and see if they might be able to help you out and if you don't know which guild you belong to go to www.sca.org and look for your area and the guild's will come up. sorry I couldn't be of any help but I hope this will help.

Thank you for posting your lovely leather work willy. My mum and da were merchants in the SCA at uprising in 2003. I have some bad news for members with the SCA about one of there own. I am going to start the fly swatters again and will post them when I can.
