  2. Sorry, you've just riveted it together the edges are not done and you are asking nearly $80 there needs to be more value for the dollar, needs finishing and stitching
  3. My Able290 came from Darren, it had a base was all sorted and worked out of the box, all sorts of extras that made the whole transaction a pleasure and although he cost more than the cheap ones I feel it was a bargain just my 2c worth :-)
  4. don't use tracing paper, get draftsmans tracing film any good stationers should stock it, it is much thicker and heavier than tracing paper
  5. You can't be serious :-) Use modern techniques, a bit of thick leather, a chopping board, an lump of end grain instead of all that mucking about

  7. Use end grain wood, its by far the best thing for the tools

  12. yes had a quick look and the leatherpatcher looks just like my Able290
  13. We use a hose clamp from a car radiator, then a hack saw to trim off the damaged/worn part, the clamp acts as a guide so you cut straight

  15. A 2lb maul is just too heavy for a lot of tooling, get a rawhide mallet

  17. you've no chance using hot solder, it might work if you glued on the cold solder
  18. stick it onto some contact that is bigger than the piece it gives you something to hold on to
  19. I doubt that lining leather would stand up as a football, and you certainly can't carve it :-)
  20. X2 on the lansky 5 stone set, its the only way I can get them sharp but it takes work on the very old hard blades
