I paid $60 plus postage for "Leather Secrets" on ebay just recently, so IMO $400 is a little steep :-)

Yes I use drafting tracing paper and a laser printer, works a treat

I made one for my daughter, and used two magnets clipping around the back, no problems with the phone

I wanted to try a wooden burnisher but the postage to Australia is a killer, so I found a wood turner to make me a couple to fit my Dremel they work great, I paid $10AU each plus postage if anyone wants some drop me a PM and I'll pass on his email addy, he's a great guy very friendly

All the back issues of the "Leather Crafters & Saddlers Journal" still available, they weigh a ton postage to Australia was horrifying Its weird to hold a brand new magazine dated in the 90's my wife may say a few words but I've got great reading and a lifetime of patterns to carve

you are trying and it's the only way to learn, I agree a litle thicker leather, and not so enthusiastic with the dye bottom line its a great effort and your youngest will love it -

With mine I just cut off the end with a hack saw, just the minimum to have a fresh face and to keep it square I use a car hose clip as a guide for the hacksaw

Hi thanks for replying It helps a great deal I had stumbled across Birdsall and have ordered a load of stuff The leathershop rings a vague bell was it once "Blackjack leather" it was in Barrack street? I think the owners name was Ray I really miss going to the old tannery in Fremantle and selecting the hides, I see that WA tanneries is now a small shop on Stirling Hwy but I haven't been out that way thanks again for the help

Just getting back into the hobby after a few years, all my old suppliers have gone including the tannery !!! any advise as to good (cheap) suppliers for leather and fittings thanks
