I have a 99K it's just a shorter 66K same mechanicals and I'm trying to find leather point needles, without much success :-( did you find any?? cheers
-
Well now I have the good needles an Osborne awl with a blade that goes through human flesh like a hot knife through butter A real stitching horse, a stitching Clam, and stitching Ponies of different sizes spent hours on You Tube watching Nigel perform miracles sewing beautiful stuff and now finally I opened a business account with Abbey and I have the legendary Tiger thread in my hand in Australia - happy dance!!! got to be able to get it right with that lot!!! As I say out of excuses
-
very nice, thanks
-
I just came across these The swivel knife is made of brass (?) very solid the yoke does not rotate but it rotates on the screw threads, the blade is very thick and solid into the body I guess after a lot of sharpening it would be gone, no makers name or numbers The other knife (I have 2) is very cheaply made of a brass like sheet it uses a half one of the old fashion razor blade which you need to snap in half to fit and use it has the makers name Stocks and is patented in the US, I can find nothing about it. It feels down right dangerous to use with a half broken razor blade I like collecting unusual old kit :-)

I've been going through my collection of tools and I've weeded out about 140 duplicates all "Craftool Co USA" or "Craftool USA" I was thinking of selling them cheap say $3.00 US each plus postage, which should be very reasonable in Australia I have a list of the numbers if anyone is interested I'm also open to pickup I'm in Huntingdale WA 6110

I think I paid about $30 for mine but I grabbed another one at that price, they are very well made, He appears to be on a pension and does this for a few extra $$ They are so very expensive from Tandy and other retailers, that I want to give a fellow Aussie some support
-
The guy selling them is the original author of that article, he has made some changes to the design and it works very well
-

Barry King Swivel Knife Blades...thick Or Thin?
howie696 replied to Mudruck's topic in Leather Tools
Yes they have a grub screw at both ends I'm very pleased with mine thin angled 1/4" thick straght 3/8" thick straight 1/2" the thick 1/2" is great for long curves etc -
Definatly worth the money, I also have a couple of his stiching ponys ( he had an article about them in The Craftsman), a wicked knife made from a sharpened hack saw blade, and two really nice hand held burnishers he is a real gentleman and a pleasure to deal with,

I'll pm you his ebay ID

Importing Headknife Into Australia
howie696 replied to silverback's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
I'm an expert on this and I'm in Australia I have bought quite a few head and round knives from all around the world, Australian customs are quite happy with them described correctly as a leatherworking or saddlery knife, only once did customs call me because the seller maked the package as KNIFE, so they asked me to clarify what it was and then let it through Just one warning, if you buy off eBay or a seller using the "Global Shipping Program" (GSP) the item is repacked in the US by Pitney Bowes and although they acknowledge that it is legal to import them into Australia they return them to the seller and you have to get a refund. Just avoid the GSP and you will have no issues cheers -
It looks very well made and durable, your grand daughter will treasure it for years nice work
