Selling my Cobra 4-P Leather sewing Machine sold by the Leather Machine Company. I purchased it with very little to no hours on the machine, and it was ever so lightly used. I have used it a total of 30 hours. It runs well -no issues with it at all. I will include a few extra spools of thread and extra needles that I have. I am moving across country and cannot take the machine with me. I am asking $2200 I live near Portland Oregon. Thanks Grey... Yea... Sometimes things don't work out as planned The overall effect was the most important. When these things happen I remind myself of the First Nation thought of incorporating imperfection into your work as it is arrogance to the Creator/Spirit to desire to create a perfect piece of art. Then I feel a little better....

I sell mainly on the internet, which enables me to live in a beautiful setting, but lacks the socialization that one would get from a 9-5 job. I certainly would entertain the idea of a local making them for me though. Love to support local...

Thanks guys! I live in a pretty remote area on the Washington coast. The nearest small town is 12 miles away and it doesn't even have a main street. The next nearest is 30 miles away.... and everything along here is pretty much just oyster related. With flat rate pricing on USPS shipping(across usa), I am willing to invest in the right person. Hi... Looking for someone to custom make some leather moulds for my own handbag designs. The moulds would be in the form of a thick block that a person would drape wet leather over to dry to the form. I see them on Ebay from China, I would rather support my USA craftsman. Greetings, There is several Tandy Leather Stores in the San Fran area that give very low cost classes-generally on weekends. It is a good place to start and a lot of times they supply the tools for you during class. Good luck to you!

Greetings... I have been tooling for a while now, but just now upgrading my tools to incorporate the more expensive machinery for reliability. I want to buy a press for line 20 & 24 snaps, and different size rivets .. Since I have never used one, I don't know what to look for. I would rather buy a used one for recycling reasons. When conducting searches on Ebay, I find a multitude of presses from all different time periods in a range of prices. What should I be looking for? Could these possibly be also co-used for the square tandy craftool imprinting stamps? Are all the presses pretty much the same- they just need different dies(sp?)? I taught myself while I lived in UK for 3 years... no one to teach me. I do not tool Sheridan style...I guess you can say, I tool my own style. I sculpt tiles as well, and incorporated my experience in creating dimension into my leather tooling. Most patterned tools (that create the cross hatching) are best used on background, and in crevices. The antique dyes work great with those tools as the dye catches in the roughness of the pattern.. and this creates more dimension. The one critique I have of your first projects (and great job BTW) is that when you do background work (around the edges of the design) try to fade the patterning gently into the no tooled area of leather... no harsh lines. It should not take 5 hours for leather to dry to a point you can tool... a simple spray bottle works, cover piece with one even layer of H20, and then let sit. It should take no more than 15 minutes to be able to start tooling. If piece starts to dry out, just spray lightly another layer. Less is more with water. I do understand you are working with limited tools. This past year I invested in three huge job lots of vintage tools on Ebay. The look of my work is much crisper now because of the better crafted tools from years ago. Do research on what markings make a craftool vintage, and invest in those, instead of your local tandy store. The tools now are not machine made, they are created from molds, and over time , the molds loose their edges, which results in poor patterning. I am a newbie here too... and just starting to work more with chrome tanned leather. The strap in photo looks like a very thin leather. It probably has either a thicker back or some sort of filler/support inside, as thin- chrome tanned leather won't hold up over time. The snake skin is most likely glued to this backing before sewn to top. I would first make a strap without Boogers skin (awesome scale pattern BTW) and get a feel... then when you created and fixed all the errors, make one with your beloved's skin. There is a section here on patterns, where you could get a GS pattern. I had a customer send me a full alligator skin to make a handbag from. Thanks everyone. I am only allowed to show two photo's-wish I could show more. Bob-the interior flap is lined with glue-in pigskin suede, so edges of it need to be sewn down to prevent it lifting. I use artificial sinew for thread. Try to get as much wax off thread as possible, as it transfers so easily to suede. I just got my Cobra-4P so hoping to start machine sewing the perimeters instead....
