  1. I put one on my Consew 206, and found it to be an easy retrofit aside from wrestling that big ole heavy clutch motor.
  2. After watching some gunsmithing videos, 30 LPI seems extreme for bevelers. That would be more like a back grounding tool. I am going to order 50 LPI checkering file.
  3. Depending on the size of the box, a regular old light bulb will work to dry and circulate the air.
  4. That is why I went to using an airbrush, all my shades of brown turned out dark brown once I got even coverage. I would dip dye more if I had a nice place to keep the tubs. I have hand tremors, so I have a hard time hanging on to things or dropping things. So no vats of dye anywhere where I will most likely spill it.
  5. The end of the bolts are crowned and dressed, so I am not sure how it is any different for the maul than removing them all together. I left the threads to provide grip so the tool doesnt slip from my hand. I keep my index finger there. If I had a lathe, I would knurl the shank. Bolts are rough ground on an 8" bench grinder. Final shaping and dressing is done on a 1 " belt sander, and then the ends are buffed to a mirror polish on an 8" buffing wheel. Bolts are kept cool by dipping in water frequently.
  6. Thanks, but I used power tools to make the stamps.
  7. I use mine everytime. Be sure to get one with a plastic basket, not a tray
  8. Thanks, I am excited to try to attempt to make some more tools. Thanks, I am excited to try to attempt to make some more tools.
  9. What sport does this team play? I grew up watching wrestling, so I am a big fan of championship belts.
  10. Thanks, I never was a fan of the guitar straps with the slot punches, either the two piece straps or the ones with the pads. Took me a while to realize I didn't have to make guitar straps like everyone else.
  11. I made this for my mother. 6 ounce vegtan with pig suede lining. The pocket is super soft chrome tan deerskin. The image is a picture I took of new mini donkey born on the farm.
  12. A good friend of mine asked me to make an oakleaf tooled padfolio for her as a gift for someone. I tried to talk her out of it because I do not like tooling flowers and leaves. Flowers and leaves were not what drew me into leatherwork, and sometimes I find them a bit cliche because so many leather projects are cut and paste from old leather working books/patterns. Plus, I am not very good at it. Anyway, she talked me into giving it a try. I had to make my own stamping tools to get the job done.
  13. I want to make a set of checkered bevelers, steep angle bevelers, and some more undercut bevelers and lifting tools. Just need to order some more SS bolts.
  14. I needed some bevelers and a lifter, but I wasn't too enthusiastic about the 25-35$ price tag on quality tools. Picked up some 1/4" SS bolts and made a beveler. It worked better than my Crafttool beveler, so I made a set of 3. Then someone asked me to make some oak leaves and I made a lifter from a 3/8" hardened bolt used for electric poles.
  15. I gave 80$ on Amazon Prime, but come to find out they sell this same machine under a lot of brand names. Harbor Freight carries it, and you can uze thise 20% and 25% off coupons on it. I use Angelus leather paint which is a water based acrylic, and this machine does a great job cleaning my Iwata airbrush. If its caked on, I run it through the 8 minute heated setting and i may have to wipe the tip off with a papert towel. If i put it in the cleaner right after use, it cleans it right off.
  16. I recently bought a heated ultrasonic cleaner for my airbrushes, and I am trying to only use products that will clean up with warm water and a spoon full of dawn dish soap. Fiebings pro oil dye, Angelus leather paint and and mop n glo all clean up on the 8 minute setting.
  17. I just use it straight. I was thinning it 50/50, but it sprays better and doesn't drip if I spray it straight through the airbrush. It comes out kinda glossy if you spray it straight, but if I want a matte finish, I spray it on heavy, let it set a minute or two, then wipe it with a paper towel. Comes out great. I haven't experienced any negatives using Mop N Glo
  18. I use Mop N Glo as resist, works great if applied just right and let it dry. Plus its cheap and readily available. By the way, nice tooling. Wish mine was that nice.
  19. I use angelus leather paint sprayed through an airbrush - Takes 3 coats.
  20. I would highly recommend this tool https://www.tandyleather.com/en/product/table-top-edge-dyeing-roller
