  2. welcome to the site. I would go with a 6/7 oz leather and wet form it to the pan. Get the leather soaking wet and then form it to the pan. Let it dry on the pan. You should cover your pan with some plastic (saran wrap to keep it dry. Good luck. Johnny

  10. Mike, I don't know much about stitching but I think your piece looks pretty good. Just looks like you pulled the thread a little tighter on some stitches than others. The tooling looks good too. Like the way you did the leaves. Johnny

Thanks for the advice Dave, Make like a 1/4" high, 2.0 dia. plug that is threaded and weld it where I want the mounting bolt to go, screw a threaded rod into it and butt the leather up to the plug. Never thought of what the spring would be doing to the leather. thanks again for the advice. Johnny
