  5. While I've never done it, it makes sense to me that it be done the same as stamping, carving, etc.....wet or case the leather, then when it is at that right time of drying, run it through the embosser....first, before dying, sewing, finishing, etc....
  6. Know where I might find one, for a 1-1/2" belt?? Thanks!! RG

    Bees Wax

I understand toilet sealers are no longer bees-wax...so there goes Home Depot. What's a good price to pay for bees-wax...I've been thinking of dipping some sheaths in it....so I guess I need a crock-pot half full??
  8. Here's another vote for Weldwood gel.....it's close by at Lowe's and Home Depot, inexpensive, and works very good. I buy it by the qt.
  9. With my last go with Vinagoroo, I just held the piece under running water for a minute or so then started the drying out/modeling process.....either the vinegar smell was gone, or I just got used to it....(?)
  10. Great job and very neat project....as much stamping as I do I have got to get me a decent maul....where are these heads available?
  11. ...hope you got the yellow gooey gel....it's got more elasticity, which is more dead cow friendly.....
  12. I would really like to see what 12 per inch looks....and how and where it is used....on leather. Thanks.
  13. Yeah, right....rookie of the year maybe....how's that for stroking ya!!??
  14. I'll be in touch, maybe you can help me with a Ruger Blackhawk holster I'm about to do.....would like to do it in that #1 carving pattern of yournz.\ RG
  15. Great looking sign...it says it all.... Don't worry bout copy writing....just tell them you meant for that to be Willie Nelson.....
  16. You done did it again Cowboy.....I really like that #1 myself, the carving is so nice and deep and stitching is perfect. Do you do your own carving design and layouts?
  17. A fella contacted me and asked me to make him a couple per his instructions, I guess they turned out pretty good.
  18. I thought mine was working pretty good until I put the knife into this sheath....turns out my leather looks blue next to the black rubber handle of this knife. Guess I need to let it soak longer...I was in too much of a hurry to git r done....
  19. LOL= laughing out loud....like I hope you were doing while reading my last post....
  20. I think you should take up another hobby, you'll never catch on to this leather stuff, you just don't seem to get it....
  21. ....something else I do on occasion.....on the drill press, use a 3/64" bit.....as "pilot holes"...the awl is actually bigger..so when going through 4 or 5 layers of leather, it's a big help...the awl fills in the hole and then some.....no can tell.....
  22. I understand what you're saying Marlin, but it's one of those things we're just gonna have to learn to live with.....my opinion is that drilling holes is not wrong, and that stabbing with an awl is not the only way...... I've seen "discussions" where some will scoff at the idea of using a stitching machine..... It's whatever floats your boat....
  23. Congrats Casey.....that would be a great show to be part of, or just go see stuff... Question, must one have a mustache to enter??
