  1. Horsebraider they brought me the tail hair for tassels on the key fobs. Thanks again for the replies. Mike
  2. Horsehairbraider Thank You for your comments. You due great work with horsehair and ya must have a lot of patience to work with hair. That is tail hair. And I agree mane hair is so much nicer. Some folks I work with had a horse die so they hacked some tail off and brought it to me for a key fob. And another guy had some tail hair from a favorite horse that had died ten yrs ago. Well I told them that if another one dies to comb out the mane real nice before cutting. In my opinion there's nothing worse than trying to untangle a wad of hair and getting enough to work with. I'll have to see if they do. And thank ya for the offer of hair but we have 5 hay burners here at the house which provide enough for what i do. I do have a ? when I use hair to interweave knots I usually super glue all the hair together on one end. Is there a better way of doing this. Thanks Mike
  3. From what I've been told yellow saddle soap can discolor your rawhide. Mike
  4. Hello to everyone hope ya'll are doing fine. I'm not trying to make anyone mad or upset here. But I've seen a couple of things on this site I would like to make for one there was a braided cross that I thought was cooler than heck. And the way KAW attaches his poppers on his quirts is preety cool. So if I want use those ideas do I need to contact them and get permission? If I did use those designs and somebody liked them I'd sure as heck tell them I saw them somewhere and didn't think of them myself. And by any chance I ever made anything and somebody wanted to copy it I'd be tickled pink!!! So if I ever copy anyones idea on this board I'm not trying to be disrespectful or take credit for your idea. I probaly just thought it was a neat design. Have a good evening Mike
  5. Hello I think ya guys jinxed me. I didn't have the log in problem until I was reading about ya'lls trouble. And thinkin ta myself gee that must suck!! Next thing I know everytime I get off the net and back on I have to log back in. I guess thats what I get for thinkin better you than me!! oh well such is life. I also run IE. 7. I'm looking for silver beads to go on braided bracelets. I've seen them on headstalls and some fancy reins. So I'm trying to find that style only smaller. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Mike
  8. I would like to thank everyone for their remarks and advice. I'll have to try using the lighting techniques. Beaverslayer I'm kind a slow at it but it takes me about 2 hrs for the key fobs and the bracelets I've shown take anywhere from 6 to 8 hrs depending on the #and length of knots. So maybe damn slow would be a better description.ha!ha! Once again Thanks Mike
  9. Here's a picture that didn't load? I think I had to many bites of one kind or another. Another keychain. Mike

  15. Tonyc1 Ya might try reposting this in the leather tools sections. Ya might get more response. I myself use the model 84 and i'm tickled pink with it. Hope some of this helps Mike
  16. whinewine I'm asking $50.00 plus actual shipping costs for the bracelets shown. I can make single or double strand bracelets with as many or as few knots as wanted. Price will vary with #of knots and bracelet type. Just pm me to work out details. I hope I didn't do a boo-boo by posting this information on the forum. But I also think it saves time by having the info. there. Thanks Mike
  17. Hilly I sent ya a email. Can we post prices on the forum? Thanks Mike
  18. Warren I'm also a career firefighter and would like to welcome ya to the site as ya already know it's a great site with great people who are willing to help. Mike
  19. Tonyc1 I was told that on some of these new splitters the blade didn't have much of a bevel to them. Only about half way up. Which makes it harder to split wider leather. And in my opinion tools aint made near as well anymore. To where on the old osbornes the bevel goes dang near to the top. I haven't seen the weaver so I can't say. I would say to look for a old Osborne 84 model if ya can. If ya find one it will probably run ya $350 or better but well worth it in my opinion. Just make sure the blade aint used up. Mike
  20. Cecil I don't know anything about competitions but I like your work especially the buckle. Thanks for sharing Mike
  21. Sounds like my kinda weather! mike
  22. KAW Once again unbelievable work!! That sheath is cool and the braid work makes a guy envious. I was just wondering how long have ya been braiding if ya don't mind me asking. Thanks for sharing Mike

  24. Well we've had damn nice weather mid 60's to low 70's here in my neck of the woods. Hard to believe it's Nov. But I think it's fixin to start getting cold and I aint looking forward to it. I'm just glad I dont live any farther North I dont think I would make it through the winter. So to every one that lives up North stay warm! Mike
  25. I want to think every one for thier replies. Maybe I can talk him into the leather covered horn. Either way it looks like i'll have some time invested in it because i'd better double or triple what ever time it takes ya'll. Any way i'll have a couple of weeks to find the above books. Thank goodness it's a friend for my first horn repair. Thanks again Mike
