  1. Ryan Nice web site and nice looking gear. Mike
  2. Barra If ya can't find anything let me know and I'll get it together and send it to ya. Mike
  3. unicornwoman I reckon we'll just have to agree to disagree. I just don't think it's right to charge separate for putting a product in a box and taking it to the PO. I also don't think buyers premiums are right. So I don't buy from places that charge more than actual shipping or auctions that charge a buyers premium. Some people do I don't. I reckon each to thier own. Best of luck. Mike
  4. KAW Thanks it's kinda what I figured. I never really know how many bights or interweaves I'll have until I get to that point. I would like to be able to plan out my knots better. Such as #of interweaves for patterns. So I guess as with anything in life experience is the best teacher. Mike
  5. Ferret Great idea I was wondering after cuting out and grinding. Does a fella have to retemper. Thanks Mike
  6. I want to thank everyone for their replies!! Rob To be honest I don't color my strings. I have enough trouble doing as much as do. I just use darker or lighter rawhide and i've got a bunch of roo from Tandys that I like to use for contrast. But one of these days I would like to try and dye my own. So when ya figure out the best way let me know. Mike
  7. JLD When we would make something round such as roping reins, draw reins, or head stalls. we would decide how much we wanted rounded. Then find the center of the strap and punch a hole at the beginning and the end of what ya want rounded. We then used a string cutter to split they strap from start to finish. You could use a crown splitter or just a knife and a straight edge. I would then glue and stich the two pieces flesh side to flesh side and then use a edger to round the corners off and run through a rein rounder.Hope this helps Mike
  8. I too figure the top price I want to pay and let it go from there if someone wants to pay more in the last minute than so be it. And I want everyone to get the money they have coming to them for the shipping and handling. But with that said a person would have to drive pretty far and use a dang nice box to justify a $5-$10 handling fee. I guess I figure that when I sell something to somebody getting it in a box and taking it to wherever to be shipped is in the price I sell it for. So then all I need to do is charge actual shipping. Just my .02cents worth. Mike
  9. KAW I'll I can say is excellent!!! I really like that quirt thats a neat pattern in both pieces. Is there a formula you use to determine your string size for your knots. I do enjoy looking at your work. Thank you for sharing!! Mike
  10. Alan Thanks for the sharp eye!! I reckon I better go back and study on that knot some more!! Mike
  11. Heres another bracelet I finished for a guy. I hope the next post will be of something other than a bracelet.Mike
  12. I have to agree with ya'll on the shipping costs. I bought some stuff off of ebay one time and called the guy on his shipping charge. He informed me he had to figure in his time for putting it inthe box ,the cost of the box, and taking it to wherever to be shipped. Lets just say I will not buy from him again. I don't mind paying all actual expensenses but give me a break charging to put it in a box and dropping it off!! Hell it's a 20 mile round trip for me to go to town and come back. But I'm generally make it to town once a day anyway so i'll mail it then. Anyway I think people try to get every cent they can which in turns runs people off. My .02cents Mike
  13. Jake Very nice work!! I can't wait to see more. Mike
  14. That's why I will always have a job some people are dumber than a box of rocks!!! Mike

    lacing on tools

Duke You just need to braid a long pineapple on the handle. The knot will naturally follow the contours of the handle. You will need to add interweaves on the bigger parts to fill in the gaps. Hope this helps. Mike
  17. Dink Nice site! Nice looking gear! Mike
  18. Great video!! I think I'll make my dogs watch it. Thanks Wolvenstien Mike

  23. Thanks rdb and EagleSmith Right now my 8yr old daughter is trying to teach me to type better. To let you know my computer skills. The other day we bought this data card for wireless internet. So when we get home my wife has to leave for a meeting at work and tells me not to touch or try to install the software. That she will do it when she gets home. Well thats like telling a kid not to look in box. I just couldn't help myself and I thought how hard can it be. I mean ya put the disk in and it tells ya everythingto do. So I went to install it and let me tell ya what that damn computer froze up tighter than bark on a tree. It was so bad I had to unplug it from the wall to reset it. So here I am in a panic because the wife is do home and I broke her computer. Well lucky for me I found the number of the place we bought it at and explained the situation and how I was fixin to be in a world of hurt. So they took pity on me and for 30 min they walked me thru the steps to get it right. So it will probaly be awhile before I try installing anything for awhile. But ya'll give me hope. Mike
  24. Rob I noticed I misspelled your name. My apologies!! Mike
  25. Rod It was KAW who posted that and I believe he took a 50 gallon drum and filled it with water. He then brought it up to 145 degrees with the hide in it. He used a propane burner. I think he said for no longer than 3 or 4 min. I may be and probally am wrong on the temp and time. But thats about all I remember. I haven't seen him on here for awhile maybe pm him. Hope this helped a little. Mike
