  1. Hi, A friend of your and mine had been having phone calls on the order of several hundred a day, which basically shut down his business (Siegel of California). He still had a website, but in attempting to contact the site today, I got the bad news warning similar to the one you had a few weeks ago... ___________________________ This Connection is Untrusted You have asked Firefox to connect securely to siegelofca.com, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure. I don't have a phone number for them, and the website is such that I won't access it. And the email addresses I have for them don't function. James "Sparks" Stone 2376 E. 2. Welcome Kimmee

Leather work for me is learned one new project at a time. Find something you want to make, even if a lot of it is outside your current skill level a bit. Each new project is applying the basics that you know, and learning new skills and techniques. It helps to be able to ask questions to get coaching in the new skills/techniques portion.

  3. Tina, Beautiful works! I particularly like the craftmen scenes and the boar in the vines. Sparks
  4. Rgarding the corks, are you talking the 'traditional' corks that come from oak tree bark? I haven't seen real cork in quite awhile. The corks that are in our local wineries bottles are more like rubber or plastic than a forest product. Sparks
  5. Say Alex,

Is that you in the 18th century British uniform?

I do some Colonial reenacting myself, but I'm a civilian PA farmer. Once in a while I get tapped for militia duty as is normal.

  7. Chief, Great National Steel Guitar! I haven't seen one of those in years. But I give up on the "Where's Waldo" puzzle to find the leather work. Sparks
  8. I bet that prime hair-on beaver skin you used on the outside has LOTS to do with warmth. I once made a hat out of that stuff--with a chrome tanned deerskin inside-the-hat sweat band and if it was warmer than 10 degrees F it was TOO HOT! It had a horrible demise. Seems the sweat, chrome tanned deer and tanned-hair-on beaver pelt reacted to literally make the beaver skin brittle and basically EAT the leather. Anyone know what caused that? Sparks
  9. Download "Acrobat Reader" if you have not already done so. That allows you to view pdf documents. Sparks

  11. Thanks Johanna, I forwarded it to my friends with a sense of humor. Sparks
  12. Looks good! Don't worry about your English, I had relatives on my father's side from Czechoslovakia and they were in this country (in Chicago) for fifty years or so and your English is way better than theirs. They were in a Czeck neighborhood and never needed to learn English. Sparks

Kerry, I emailed Greenman Forge with no response either. I now notice his email is NOT listed with his contact info. I was able to talk with him and order over the phone. I talked with him Thursday or so, he said he'd make the tools I wanted over the weekend and mail them early next week--tomorrow or so. 14. Never mind! I got it. As soon as I posted the message my other messages to you appeared on the bottom of the page...including the one with the URL. I have bookmarked that URL.

My impression was that the distributors can order in any of the Weaver products you want. Good luck. Glad I could help out.

    Sparks,

who has learned through the years not to stop at the first "No."

  18. You can still order indirectly from that website by using one of their many suppliers. Here's the list http://www.ridethebrand.com/locator/results_list.php?category=1&order_by=city

My spouse and I reenact the period of 1780-1785 as a Pennsylvania farm family.
