  1. @Northmount You have unselfishly helped lots of people over the years. If I could figure out how to put a gold crown over your name, I would.
  2. This is exciting! Marked on the calendar! ((hugs)) Randy
  3. @bruce johnson is the man to ask about the older tools. We're gonna waive the price rules until we have further conversation so we can get this man's tools into appreciative hands for a fair price.
  4. It looks like the particular topic you linked was transferred into the Sewing Machine Forum by Northmount at about 8:30 pm, because he thought it would get more specific attention from you sewing machine experts there.
  5. It's like the old time infomercials in the middle of the night. "But wait! We can sell you a new magic database tool for a gazillion dollars, that may or may not work any better than what you've got! Call Ronco now and save 15%!" Follow Tom's advice to search the site by Google.
  6. I just searched "awl" and got nothing. I wonder if there is a setting somewhere for the online search function? Friquant has me off to the races again. Thanks for the heads up.
  7. go to the homepage leatherworker.net
  8. @friquant I'm going to be going through Little Rock in two weeks going to the Heart of Texas show in Waco, sponsored by the Leathercrafters Journal. Wanna have a cup of coffee? If anyone wants to donate to the site to get a warm fuzzy feeling, and a few extra permissions, you can use the "donate" box on the right side, bottom, of the page. (It's just a widget for PayPal to admin @ leatherworker.net. The most important contributions to the site are your comments, pictures, experiences, warnings, triumphs, lists and participation, and I am humbled by the way our community will jump in to help others. There are some great people in Leather Land, and they are willing to share what they know so the next generation can learn. We are 19 years old now, older than FB and X, and have collected the most useful leather info available on the planet. God bless you all. ~J
  9. For you, I will hunt down the setting and see if we can go lower. ha ha
  10. There's an auto timer that merges posts made back to back. I think it's at 3 minutes? I'll have to check. It's to prevent clutter, from the old days when we had dial up connections and got interrupted, I suppose. Maybe tag each person you're replying to if it's in the same thread?
  11. I'd have to enable "can post html" for the member group, which looks like a huge security issue. I have it enabled for the mods and contributing members because they are unlikely to do malicious things with HTML. I can put you in that group if you promise not to break anything. hahahaha
  12. It seems that everyone but "members" has the source button. It looks like I need to do some tweaking. In the admin CP there are ways to customize the toolbars, but no source button to add. Somehow it must have remained in the legacy versions? I'll look into it more tonight.
  13. I have the "source" button. Checking to see if this is a browser or software issue. I see the source button on my phone and using Chrome.
  14. A picture would really help. Some folks think they have leather when they really have fancy vinyl. Vinegar will often take an odor out of leather but I've never used it for stains. Upholstery leather is usually pretty resistant to staining unless it's ink. I wouldn't do anything to the stain without seeing how the chemical reacts on an inconspicuous piece of the leather, like underneath the couch. I'm pretty sure no matter what's going on, vinegaroon isn't the answer. ~J

  17. I use a pic of Janis Joplin on X as my profile pic. The first song I learned off the radio as a kid was "Me and My Bobby McGee".
  18. https://cindysinorartist.com/ Cindy Sinor is a talented colored pencil artist and accepts commissions. I thought you’d enjoy looking at her work.
  19. The bell icon interprets a click with "Whew, I told the member everything that was going on!" It continues to list each notification so you can refer to them at any time. You can still click each item individually, or set up an activity stream to your interests. I get emails for my notifications, so sometimes my bell has a red number for a day or two until I go back and click it just to make sure I didn't miss or forget anything.
  20. A picture would really help. We can't tell if the hardware or leather is bleeding, and we probably won't be able to help if the stains are on vinyl, but we'll try.
  21. It used to default to the first unread post. A few weeks ago the software wanted me to set a default and I chose "let user decide" instead of making it first post or first unread post. On multipage threads you can skip to the last page in one click. There are arrow symbols before and after page numbers.
  22. It's funny how the whole world uses the metric system and Celsius (or is it centigrade?) and we Americans don't have a clue past 0 is freezing (32 for us).We can't calculate kilometers or meters. We automatically think a kilometer is less than a mile and a meter is more than a yard. We sorta know liquids because 2 liters is about a half gallon. If you ever smoked dope, you know there is about 28 grams in an ounce. We Americans can't picture a gram when we are looking at a bag of potato chips or a jar of nuts. We buy butter by the pound, gas by the gallon, and it's 737 miles from here to the beach in Charleston SC. My husband measures to 10,000 of an inch at his work, and he probably knows the metric equivalent, but my brain just says "really tight". I wonder how long America will hold out using the Imperial system (that we inherited from a country that has converted to metric) or if we'll ever get the world to switch back? All I know is that it's really cold at Northmount's house, probably less summer than my cousin has in Montana, and even colder. And the roses are beautiful.
