Holster Class with Chris "Slickbald" Andre On the first day, the class will focus on the tools used, as well as the design basics and basics of holster making. The aim of the workshop is that Holsters can be made independently after the course. The type of holster is not the point in the course. Attendees will craft a western-style holster shaped like a Single Action Army revolver. The focus is on the different techniques to understand the meaning of the seam, the liner and the fit of the weapon. On the second day the students will do a second holster to repeat the lessons of the first day. The second holster is then hallmarked with your favorite geometric stamps and marginal stamps. There he specialized in the design and development of custom-made leather tools. He has been a leather artist for over 40 years and a world-renowned "carver", teacher and toolmaker. Robert is masterful when it comes to breathe life into leather. Design with him this elaborate landscape motif. In 1987, he was awarded the Al Stohlman Prize for his achievements in the leather trade and is one of the few who received the Al Stohlman Livetime Award. The show will be SEPTEMBER 11-15, 2019 at the RENAISSANCE HOTEL St. Louis, Missouri. View and Print the 2019 Show Registration Form The Room rates are the same as 2010 at $110 per night. On Friday there will be a limited space available "working" tour of the Hermann Oak Tannery. We will rent a bus that can take 40 people to the tannery for this tour. The cost will be $20 to cover the bus as there is not parking at the Tannery. There are some steep steps to the top floor of the tannery to the drying rooms that are NOT handicap acessible as the Tannery has been in business in the same building since the 1880's. You are welcome to take the tour and wait on the first or second floors if you can not make these stairs. I would suggest that if you intend to take the tour to bring old shoes. There is often tanning solution and water on the floor when you are on the first floor. Tour will be first come/first paid list sign up. For more info click HERE

The show is open 9AM to 5PM, November 1 & 2, 2019 at the Pendleton Convention Center, 1601 Westgate, Pendleton OR, 97801. As always there is NO admission fee to enter the show. The Convention Center features an on-site kitchen serving lunch concessions Thursday, Friday and Saturday of the show. The vendors you will see at the trade show travel from all over the Western US and are specifially related to the leather crafting industry. The vendors are the backbone of our show and will display a diverse selection of goods such as leather, hardware, saddle trees, stirrups, fancy conchos, stamping tools, saddlery tools, bootmaking supplies, glue, conditioners, dyes and much more, all available for purchase. The classes feature a wide-range of subject matter with literally something for everyone. The instructors are all dedicated to teaching their craft and for students to come away with new skills and confidence. Throughout the weekend there will be drawing to win "Leather Dollars." The Leather Dollars are $100 vouchers that can be spent with any vendor at the trade show. Everyone who registers when entering the Trade Show and all students taking any class will be eligible for the Leather Dollars drawings.
