  1. In the search box on the top right of the page, click the magnifying glass icon and you will be on the advanced search page. If there is an option you want that we don't have, let me know and I will try to add it. http://leatherworker.net/forum/search/
  2. I try to zap the spammers as soon as I see them, or someone reports them. We get kind of busy some days, and I appreciate the help when someone clicks the "report" button. As far as the emails go- our server had a serious hiccup this week. I got over a thousand "old" emails, so I understand the frustration, but that's what happened when we cleared up the bigger problem. Emails spontaneously flew. Sigh. There is a setting for this, however, in your control panel. You can configure your notifications to your liking. The board will send you a notice for everything, nothing, or something in between. You can even get once a week notifications, or you can shut it off entirely. I'm sorry for the inconvenience with the extra emails and occasional spammer. If that is the worst problem today, however, I will be thankful. ~J

  6. Montana Raptor Conservation Center said: Hey guys, This is Becky with the Raptor Center in Bozeman. We have a female peregrine that is going to be a permanent resident at the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone and she needs a hood. Would this be something that you guys would be able to do? She weighs 760-730g. Let me know what you think and a price.
  7. This thread is 6 years old. If we are going to discuss this again, let's start a new thread without a Chevy/Ford comparison. Thanks guys! ~J

That is absolutely beautiful! See you in Prescott next month, Bob!
  9. Whoa! You didn't need to delete the link! Now I can't even find it. I have no problem with anyone posting links to legit leather resources. It's okay to put the link and the info back for the people who are interested. I only meant that we are already covering the bases here, that's all. Repost please. ~J
  10. You should see the adult section when logged in above the marketplace from the main forum index page. Let me know if you have any problems. Thanks! ~J

CaptQuirk- that's a set of hobbles so the horse doesn't run off. Gorgeous work, compound!
  12. That's a good idea. Our sponsors are the best in the business and work hard to deserve everyone's consideration. They all have quality products reasonable prices and excellent customer service, and I know this.

The show consists of a Trade Show and Classes. The vendors you will see at the show travel from all over the Western US and are specifially related to the leather crafting industry. The vendors are the backbone of our show and will display a diverse selection of goods such as leather, hardware, saddle trees, stirrups, fancy conchos, stamping tools, saddlery tools, bootmaking supplies, glue, conditioners, dyes and much more, all available for purchase. The classes feature a wide-range of subject matter with literally something for everyone. The instructors are all dedicated to teaching their craft and for students to come away with new skills and confidence. Throughout the weekend there will be drawing to win "Leather Dollars." The Leather Dollars are $100 vouchers that can be spent with any vendor at the trade show. Everyone who registers when entering the Trade Show and all students taking any class will be eligible for the Leather Dollars drawings. We will be giving away a total of $1000 throughout the show Friday & Saturday. You MUST be present to win Leather Dollars. http://www.pendletonleathershow.com/

  17. We try to keep the main board family-friendly. We have a place for "adult" stuff so that people who don't want to see it don't have to. No one likes potty mouth. If you see it, click the report to a mod button please and we'll take care of it. I am trying to figure out why the pic that was posted to the adult section showed up on the main board so that it doesn't happen again. Thanks for understanding and following our community standards. ~J
  18. If anyone wants to discuss hand sewing, chisels vs. awls vs. Dremel tools vs hand carved bone needles with a mini scrimshaw portrait of your dog, start a new thread. The "gold standard" of sewing in 10K+ years of leatherwork is with the awl you never set down, and 12 spi. (12 stitches an inch) In 30 plus years of leatherworking I have seen very few that were really good at it. Ann Stohlman and Verlane Desgrange come to mind, probably because they were also great teachers. And that's what the forum is all about, folks. We can always learn from each other. Whether you punch, prick, stab, or chew your sewing holes, I'm sure someone has approached you in wonder that your hands are so strong you can just push the needle through the leather. If I had a dollar for every time I explained you had to make holes first I would fly to someplace warm. ~J
  19. I'm not sure what you mean by FB popups? There is an option when you log in to use your FB ID, and there is a tiny icon at the bottom of a topic if you want to share a pic or a post. Other than those two things there isn't any Facebook connections. We had a glitch with some of the images right after the update, but as far as I know, those problems are corrected. Please let me know if you are experiencing problems. I haven't written a FAQ yet, but if you click on your name you can go to your profile and explore your choices for settings and notifications. Hope this helps!
  20. Vandy and Luke, owners of Sheridan Leather Outfitters have put the place up for sale. Details can be found at sheridanleather.forsale If the business doesn't sell immediately, they plan to close before the Rocky Mountain Leather Show in May. They are willing to let everything go, and if you don't make a deal before closing, there will be an auction. SLO has an excellent reputation and a profitable business. Surely there is someone out there that can run with this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity? We wish Luke and Vandy all the best in the next chapter of their lives. We've been proud to have them as supporters and friends for many years. They will be just as successful in their next adventure, I'm sure, because good luck always seems to follow hard work.
  21. Some of you may have heard that long time friend and LW supporter Barry King was in a skydiving accident and broke his back. He is home with a couple of screws holding him together, and is expected to make a full recovery, but I'm sure he hurts like the dickens right now. Please give him your best wishes and good thoughts while he's healing. I don't think his wife is going to be encouraging him to jump out of any more planes, but he said it was a real rush until the landing. ~J
  22. Hi Mike! First I would like to apologize to you if I sounded snippy with you earlier. When I reread this post I immediately felt bad if I sounded short to you. I think I stressed myself out a little during the upgrade, especially when a third of the pictures decided to randomly get lost in a half a million posts. After 10 years you think I would take this stuff in stride, but I didn't really feel better until the pictures were recovered. Then 3 of the mods were having to approve their own posts, and the adult section went missing. I kinda lost my mind. Sorry. But that is sorted, and I wanted to explain the donation thing to you and anyone else that wanted the details. I put a paypal donation box in the sidebar of the main page. It takes the member to a paypal page where they can pay by CC or log into their PP account. That way no personal info goes to our server beyond the user name and Contributing Member status. A contributing member gets their name turned blue, and extra permissions on the board like storage and uploading and inboxing. (I'll let them post HTML if they know what they're doing!) If I'm testing features I use the blue guys as guinea pigs. They tell me if they like something or not, and they are pretty good sports. Out of 65,000 members, there are less than 400 CMs, so I am grateful to them all. Running the board and paying for the server isn't cheap, and I frankly couldn't do it without the advertisers' support. I think the CMs are that little pat on the back that says, "You go girl!" and also shows their peers they believe in our mission of education, entertainment and fellowship. I'm a work-at-home mom that used to have a really cool leather shop before kids came along and life took me to the cornfields of Ohio. I'm not in this for the money, obviously, it's just a passion. I put the donation money back into the kitty. I can accept CCs over the phone or in writing (send a PM) or by snail mail. Johanna Schroer Leather Lady Productions PO Box 103 New Knoxville, OH 45871-0103 USA Thank you for your interest, and whether you donate or not, thank you for being a part of the community. Participation on the board is the most valuable resource we have, and you members all can share your experiences and we can learn 10,000 years of leatherwork because you care. Join hands and sing Kum-by-Yah now. You guys and gals are the greatest. ~J
  23. We've had some glitches, but AFAIK, they are repaired. Are you still experiencing this problem?
