Gentlemen, you both have very valid points, but let's not run with scissors on the forum, please. Jerry, glad to hear Artisan is doing well and successfully diversifying. Art, I appreciate the way you help people determine which machine will do the work they want it to and mention all the choices. Ultimately it's up to the customer to do his own homework and make a decision, like Spinner did. Jerry, I know you are unbelieveably busy, but I encourage you to drop by any time and give us your opinion. Because you took the time to teach me, I know that any idiot, despite the intimidation factor of running a powerful machine, can run an Artisan, because you got me comfortable sewing with it. I'm sure the same is true for Cobra, Cowboy and Techsew because I know all those guys too, and they are competent and patient. Jerry, if I can help publicize your expansions, I will be happy to do so. Just send me a press release. I'm sure everyone is curious about what's up with Artisan lately, and that would put matters to rest. Johanna

Bob is honest about his wait times, and if you want the very best tools money can buy, you wait. If Bob didn't have loyal customers, he wouldn't be in business, but obviously people are willing to wait. If you don't want to wait, there are plenty of non-custom tools you can buy off the rack. Since you need your leather to have as few imperfections as possible, you may want to develop a relationship with your supplier to hand pick your hides, if you can't select them yourself. Springfield Leather and Zack White would be in a good position to help you obtain exactly what you want. That said, we were always told to tell customers that "Leather is a natural product, so some imperfections are inevitable, and add character and authenticity to your work." (How's that for (old) Tandy spin?) Toolers have an advantage, because they can pound out anything egregious and incorporate it into the design. Chris, post the pic of that pretty tank bib with the red lacing so that people can see the size of the area you need to be clean on a hide. Maybe someone can make some other suggestions to minimze waste? Johanna

If you click on the name, you can see the country in the profile. You can edit your country from there, too. If your country is "Afghanistan" it's because that is the first country in alphabetical order, and your country was never set in your profile. ~J

You have to look on the main forum page that lists all the forums, not the individual topics themselves. http://leatherworker.net/forum/ Under the last forum is a toolbar over top of the "Who is online" "New Members Today" section. There are three choices on that toolbar, and one is "get active topics", on the left. It works in Firefox, IE and every other browser that I know of. ~J

Oh, and just in case anyone is interested, there is a drop down menu at the bottom of "today's active content" that will also display the last week, for those of you who don't get here every day. Mike- I have a "Notepad" shortcut on my Quick Launch Bar. I also have 45 post it notes all over my desk.

Oh good grief- you're GREEN and you didn't know this??? aaarrgghhh What are hand written notes again? ~J

Instead of clicking "view new content" (top right of page), scroll down to the bottom of the forum and click "today's active topics". Posts from the last 24 hours are there. You can also "subscribe" to any topic you are interested in by clicking the "Watch this topic" button. The forum will ask you how you want to be notified, and when, and you click your choices.
