sorry it took me so long to reply, ive been backlogged on orders. I have recieved alot of advice on my fringe, and I think the biggest thing that makes the most sense to me as a way of fixing the chaps now so they look better is to cut the fringe narrower, and that will help them lay right.I also agree with cutting them at an angle, and will do so on my next pair. thank you so much everyone for all the awesome advice. and about the question above on how they will fasten around the leg, I used chap clips, being held on by blood knots, with leather conchos and two tone conchos. I love the look, and have gotten tons of comments on them.

wolfie, nice lookin straps! may I ask you how you attack the spur to the strap if there is a concho there? does it get in the way? do you have to modify the spur? maybe a pic of the back side would help. please advise. thanks much, oh yea an thanks for raising the bar, I will have to struggle very hard to even come close to this.

wow, that cowgirl is hawt! where do I find a pattern for her?!
-
ok, so art, I have a few questions for you from the maker. is your 4 inches radius, or overall width? also, what length of grip do you want? do you have any requests for grip material? what type of profile do you want on the back of the blade? straight, cut out or crescent? attached is a picture of a rough drawing of the profiles. 1 is crescent. 2 is round out. 3 is straight. the radius would be from the end of the handle out to the tip of the blade. the width would be from cutting tip left side to cutting tip right side. length would be of handle. let me know an we will get something put together for you. attached is a knife he made up thinking you may like it. it has a soapstone handle. round_knife_profiles.bmp round_knife_profiles.bmp

ok so mike tulley of night owl leather has offered to give me a decent cam to kick this lil project off the ground with, so I guess I will use yahoo messenger to run my cam off of, until I hear word that this site is ready to use for cam stuff. as soon as I get the cam I will have it up and running. I have good lighting, so no need to worry bout that aspect. if anyone else has any good ideas for this project, I would love to hear them. I am hoping to have this going by monday june 9th. thank you all for your ideas, especially the one about not walkin round nekkid.lol

ok, so here are some pics of the round/ head knives. if anyone is interested, please contact me and I will send you a payment request via paypal. thanks alloh yea, an I will try to get some pics of the swivel knives. sorry, he didnt have any with him today. and I believe the leather cases do go with them, but you will probably want to make your own, as he is no leather master. he just wanted to make something to keep the blade away from fingers. and on the one, the handle is soapstone. thanks all.

a customer was telling me a while back that you can use wd-40 ad an over to bake your leather to the hardness of steel. from what he said, it could stop a small caliber bullet, but im not gonna try it.
-
luke, you are a business arent you? if so, why are you paying club prices? you do enough leather work, that you should be getting business prices. talk to your tandy guy about what you need to do to get on as a business. btw, for the money, I like the hi tech splitter.

ok, so I have a customer of mine from the Tandy store who is just handier than a pocket on a shirt. this guy can do it all.he started out making custom swivel knives, and has started doing head knives, or as the alaskan eskimos call them, oloo's. and boy are they sharp! each one is just a little different, since he isnt into doing production. he is more into the R&D department. anyway, he is a vet, who is just tryin to pay his bills, as he has had a stint put in and the VA is fighting with him on paying for it. needless to say, he is disabled at the moment, and is having a hard time making ends meet. I will get a couple of pics of these and post them on here so if anyone is interested, they can see what they can get. I do know that they are quality tools, done with a high quality tool steel. he can also do custom mauls and other such things. if anyone is interested, let me know. oh yea, before I forget.... his asking price is 75.00 the ASB round knife is 60 and the osbournes are 99, so for a quality knife, 75 is a decent price I think.

awesome! well I think its cool that my meandering mind has finally stumbled across something other than itself.lol like I said, if I can help at all, let me know. for now I am off to play with my tippmann boss, since I just got it back from being refurbished.

I personally am not a producer, and do not wish to do tutorial videos. id rather justhave a live feed that someone can watch and post questions as I go along. something along the lines of, hey I see you are making a pretty cool holster, how do you finish your edges so that they look more professional? then I could zoom the cam in a bit, or actually type a reply, and show them in detail what I do.to me this seems like the best bet. not sure on a technical side how easy it would be to do, but im sure somehow it is feasable. im glad to see thatwe will have the capability to handle this on the site.better than having to post a feed link to send someone somewhere else.I just hope that incorporating this into the site doesnt change the layout too much. as soon as there is something in place, let me know an I will dig out an old cam and fire it up. dont mind being a pioneer on new ground, especially for something that I am so passionate about, leather.

from what i understand, theyre only about 1/2 way through

as for the price of all the individual tools, I have no clue, but I do know that Tandy is looking for old tools to replace worn out masters that they have been using for quite a few years. if he is interested in bettering the quality of tools out on the market, please pass this piece of info on to him and maybe he will get in contact with Tandy and theycan decide what they would like to do. anyways, thats my 2 bits.

troy, THANK YOU! I could use all the hel I can get on figuring this thing out. hopefully in a way that doesnt crash my computer or anyone elses.especially this site. i dont think any of us could stand another crash. also, about having the camera looking the direction you would be if you were doing it yourself is exactly what I was thinking.I am also a wood worker, and I am sure I can figure out some kind of bracket to hang it over my bench without it shaking when im pounding. any more good ideas anyone???

well I have2 old webcams lying around somewhere, I need to test them and see if they work. also, I need to find a decent program to use. I guess I could use yahoo, but I have noticed that the quality isnt that great.anyways, I have to concentrate on work at the moment, so maybe I will pick a few of my customers brains and see what theythink. someone suggested using ifriends, but I thought that that was a subscription site only, and about 89% of it was porn. as for walking around naked, Idont think that would happen as my work shop is out in the garage.but ya never know. patrice, I saw your friends videos before, he does an excellent job. I think someone posted them on www.youtube.com for him, as that is where I remember seeing them. well, off to work for now, feel free to give comment or ideas on this an I will reply asap

hey johanna, you seem to know your way around a computer pretty well, any suggestions on ways to set this up? im thinking just mount a webcam right above my workbench looking down, so that the viewer can get an unobstructed view.whats the best way to run that, just plugged into my laptop, or through a server, or? any programs I should be using to run this? anything else????????
-
ok, so ive been thinking about this for a while, and mulling it over and wondering if anyone else has thought about putting a webcam in thier workspace. I was thinkin bout doing this since there is alot of interest in leathercrafting and no other way for people to be able to watch and learn( for those that need visual stimulus) other than just pictures. I was thinking that since my laptop sits on a corner of my workbench anyways, it would be pretty easy for me to do a webcam forum for people to ask questions and make comments on the project that I happen to be working on at the time. any ideas on a decent webcam? a good cam host? any kind of things I need to take into consideration before going ahead with this? COMMENTS PLEASE!!!!!!
