Your work doesn't need much help. Just keep working and develop your own style. Don't over do the skulls....work on truely different art work..... best advice I can give anyone. Dave

Christie, The Tandy manager here in Cincy said that it was actually Veg tanned, factory dyed. I doubt that is correct because you CAN NOT begin to tool this stuff. I tried to mark the back with my makers mark stamp and could not scratch the surface using a 16 oz maul. Wicked hard surface on the leather. The leather its self is rather stretchy and limp until you try to stamp it. It is 6 oz. Dave

This is my third one of these this year. They seem to be popular. The leather is non toolable. The surface of the leather and look of the finished product look like a perfect match to the stock Harley Davidson leather....except this is much thicker. Working with it reminds me of holding a sheet of rubber rather than leather. But the results are very nice looking. Let me know what you think. The leather is Tandy 9158-00 Dave Theobald

At the time I didn't have any small pieces of marble and my bench top Marble is 60"X24" It's kinda hard to spin a piece of marble like that around. But I now have a couple smaller pieces of marble so that is what I now use. Dave

BenLilly, You are correct that I do not wetform my seats. However it is my belief that most leather workers who are going to wet form a piece cut the piece to size after all the tooling and stamping is finished. I hope I'm correct, if not, I'm sure someone here will correct me.

This took several days longer than I expected. But it was worth it. There was a family wedding and we met some new folks and renewed a lot of old friendships. A good time ... definately. The seat is finally finished and was shipped to its new owner in Iowa. Let me know what you think. Dave

This seat has been under construction for quite a while. I was waiting for the customer to send me the seat pan. Well it is finally finished .... this is the second seat with this design that I have done for them. Hope you like it. Dave Theobald

I think it depends on just HOW MUCH you want to mould the leather. Dave

Actually TIna is correct. I dyed the seat a medium brown, then airbrushed the edge black. I also dusted on a light coat of black on the seat overall as the client wanted it darker. They antiqued with a dark brown paste. Nothing too complicated but no resists were used on this particular seat. Dave

I use adhesive backed foam so I never apply any glue myself. Dave
