Thank you guys for the kind words. I was able to make it a nice clean design because I didn't have to add a belt loop to it. Didn't want to carry this long and heavy knife on my belt. It's going to sit in the car most of the time and then it'll be out of the sheath in the plantation and stuck to a tree or the ground. There is a welt on this sheath singteck

Just completed this. Took 4 hrs because I don't have to make any belt loop. This one is hand or bag carry only. Don't want to strap such a heavy blade to my belt. The strap swings away so that it does not get cut by the blade. Comments are welcomed. singteck

The best place to buy gum tragacanth is a pro bakery supplier. They come in powder form and you need to mix it with water. About one table spoon full with about 500ml of water. You can put more or less depending on the thickness that you want. It is best to mix in some "dettol" because that would prevent the gum from going bad. Do not try to mix the powder into the water when you first add it. They will not mix. Just give the container a shake and leave it over night. The powder will soke up the water and turn into a paste. Add water to get the consistency that you want. singteck

Thank you everyone :D The thread is hand twisted using natural single strand thread. It's the same as a 18/3 thread when done. The needle is a normal no. 1 saddler's needle. When stitching, you have to be consistent with the placement of the needle and thread for every stitch. You have to make sure the lay of the thread is the same for every stitch. The tension on the thread have to be consistent too. A lot of practice helps. Cheers singteck

Thank you The finishing is kind of a DIY brew. It's powdered dye in spirit (80% brown witn 20% black). Then the leather is coated with clear acrylic after burnishing and a final coat of wax. singteck

When I am out for a walk or camping, I've always find myself holding onto things that I've picked up along the way or tools that I have used, soiled and will be using again later on. These would always be too dirty to put into my pocket or backpack. There are also time when I find myseld holding onto my drink bottle. It would be nice to have a third hand :D Then I came up with this idea..... A clip-on utility pocket. Made it large enough to fit a few items in (folding saw, priest, knife etc etc) or a water bottle. I made it too small that I can't fit my hand in thought singteck

That looks great. Would be a killer mod if it was all the way round the wheel. I wonder how is it to drive with that steering wheel now. You can't let the steering wheel slide in your palm when it adjust itself I am sure. singteck

Never tried Eco-flo. I would only use Professional Oil Dye if I can get it. But I can't. I have since made my own dye. I can buy the dye powder and disolve them in spirit. The same dye powder will disolve in water as well as thinner. Dye + thinner = the worst problem with bleeding I have encountered. Dye + water = will bleed but not as bad as dye + thinner. Dye + spirit = the least bleeding but it will still bleed. To stop the dye from bleeding, I would either apply a thin coat of shellac or a wax mixture that contains lanolin. The dye that is produced with spirit is very much like the Professional Oil dye. I think there might be some other mixture in it that prevents the dye from bleeding. I am thinking it could be shellac but I am not sure. singteck

I am not sure if you can use normal engine oil in it. Compressor oil will be marked compressor oil. The difference between the two is compressor oil does not contain detergent. The detergent is used to suspend the particles in the oil. The basic principle is to use oil with detergent if the machine have a filter and non detergent oil if it doesn't. singteck

This is what I would do. If it's a belt driven compressor, remove the belt and test run the motor. Next check the condition and level of the compressor oil. Turn the pulley to see if the piston will turn. Change the compressor oil if required. Open the valves on the tank and run the compressor. Close the valve and check if the cut off switch works. One thing you can't check is the condition of the tank on the inside. singteck

I would never work with stainless steel as a stamp material. They are a real pain!! For that sign, I would suggest you built it up rather then grind it away. Use a steel rod cut to length and weld/blaze to a base and then file and scrape the joints. singteck

I just place the leather under running water and wet all the surface. Once removed from water, the whole surface should soak up all the water. If there is water on the surface then it's too wet, otherwise it's fine. You will need to dye the leather at least 2-3 times to get an even colour. singteck
