  1. It's constructed from 2-3oz for everything but the exterior which was a bit thicker, 3.5oz I would say.
  2. Thank you very much. It's just natural herman oak conditioned with a little bit of neatsfoot oil
  3. So just in addition to my last post and possibly a word of warning. I ordered a set of C Mason's pricking irons off Etsy. The listing claimed same or next day shipping so I assumed he was making the Irons ahead of time and keeping them in stock. The day after I placed my order he wrote me a message on Etsy the day after I ordered (Tuesday) saying he would ship them in 24 hours. Thursday rolls around and he still hasn't sent them so I send him a message asking for an update...no response...Friday I send an order cancellation request to which he finally responds "why?". At this point I decide to purchase a set of Amy Roke Irons instead so I write him that I no longer require these tools, please refund my payment etc... No response from him, on the weekend he sends me a message on Etsy again saying he will refund my payment but doesn't know how, I respond explaining how.... It's a week later, he still hasn't returned my money or made any effort to contact me. I currently have a paypal dispute/claim open to which he also has not responded.
  4. Have you figured out a good way to sharpen them? Mine needs some love
  5. I received my awl last night and I am very pleased with the craftsmanship. It has a nice weight to it and the construction is very solid. It's also a gorgeous tool that will easily become my favorite. Here are some pics:
  6. It should be noted that when you use a stanley knife, x-acto or other razor blade type you are dragging or pulling it through the leather. When you use a rotary knife or a round knife you can shear the leather with a downward-rotaring force that results in much cleaner cuts.
  7. I think the idea is because of the blade shape, it has a lot of different uses from cutting to skiving etc. That being said, I don't use one either.
  8. I love the design, very nice work
  9. I've been doing really well on Etsy lately. It was a slow start for the first few months I had no sales then they started trickling in and now they're starting to come in steady. The thing I've realized most about selling online is that your pictures sell your products. The better my pictures have become the more sales I've gotten. I think the more sales you get and the more you renew your listing the higher you appear in searches etc. However I haven't gotten any custom orders from my Etsy page. All of them come through my actual website and most of "in stock" orders have come through Etsy...
  10. Sorry to revive an old thread, but I'm just wondering if anyone has bought any of C Mason's tools yet and can attest to their quality. I'm in the market for some fine pricking Irons and I don't want to pay $300 for a set of Blanchard ones. or if anyone has Amy Roke irons?
  11. Also Interested in pieces, 1-7sqft, of 2-5 Oz bridle or other to sample
  12. My customer wants my basic bifold which I sell for $70 but wants to change the pattern completely squaring some corners and altering the card slot pockets etc. I think I'm going to charge $70+30(2hrs) for the time to alter the pattern and time spent emailing and discussing the design.
  13. Hello all, If my customers ask for a custom design of one of my products, (eg wallet) and I have to alter my pattern etc how much extra should I charge? What about if the leather has to be ordered?
  14. Sorry I meant for the edges, they look very smooth and even
  15. Super clean and really nice edges, you used a machine right?
  16. Whats the price for the wood clamp? I might be interested
  17. Interesting website, his are more of a stitching pony but they are pretty cool, I have one of those that I made myself but it's just not cutting it any more. What I'm interested in is more of something that Nigel Armitage has attached to his log in his videos with wide jaws. It looks like leprevo has one but their website is pretty outdated and I've never heard of them before. Here's the one from Abbey England:
  18. Hey Jim, huge fan. Sorry about Kerrigan
  19. Hello all. I'm looking at getting a saddlers clam because I prefer the wide jaws and I like how they look, but I would like one that I can use vertically instead of diagonally and clamps shut instead of leg pressure. There is one kind of like this on abbey england but it costs more to ship to Canada than the price of the product. Does anyone know where else I can find one? Or does anyone make these?
  20. Exactly what I was looking for, thank you.
  21. I'm interested in having a rubber stamp made for my product packaging, does anyone have any experience with this? Any companies/websites you can vouch for? I heard Staples possibly does this?
  22. heres a pic of the inside that I never cropped http://imgur.com/28UUrDX
  23. Thanks, the chromexcel is 4-5oz and the veg tan is 2-3oz
