Haven't posted here in a while, I decided to make my dad a wallet for Fathers Day because his old cheap one was falling apart. The burgundy colour is really hard to photograph, especially with the black stitching making it even darker, but it has a nice deep red tone to it. I used burgundy CXL, herman oak veg, and black 0.8 Tiger Thread Heres some pics:

I was thinking it would be helpful to have a list of leather suppliers and their websites for people to easily refer to. Hopefully it can be stickied if possible. Most of my knowledge is of north american suppliers so feel free to include more and I can add them to the list. Does anyone know if the tannery row offers shell cordovan?

It looks really big for the SPI you're using and does not resemble the 0.6mm ritza that I have it looks more like 1mm+. It could also be because its not pulled tight because the leather is too thin. Here are some images of some of my stitches with 0.8mm Ritza: http://imgur.com/a/jpD0m

My understanding is that it is flat braided like a tube so it always lays flat no matter what

Thank you both, just purchased. Hopefully it makes it here lol edit: nice video Matt it was helpful.

Has anyone had any luck in getting some decently priced edge paint/kote shipped to Canada? There may be some issue with getting it through customs... Edge paint from Campbell Randall or Buckleguy will cost more to ship than the cost of the paint for some reason ($25+). Fineleatherworking is out of black matte paint and the fiebings edge kote I ordered from japan over a month ago never showed up. Anyone know of some shop in Canada that sell some? or have some they want to sell?

So I've been reading recently that quite a few people prefer Lin Cable over ritza 25, and some fine leather workers use Lin Cable exclusively. I generally use only Ritza and I'm interested in knowing the pro's and cons of each. I like the look of a spool of Lin Cable quite a bit and I think it looks great in photos with products etc. but I don't think the price point justifies this alone. Isn't polyester the strongest and most wear resistant? Lin Cable is corded and not flat braided? How much length comes in 50g a spool of linen thread? What do the rest of you guys use for stitching if not these?

Update - Emailed them today and got this response: "Hello Ryan, As we have already written on our website, nothing can be done about the delivery issues on unregistered small packets. Sorry that we can't give you a help. It is unable to track and doesn't have guaranteed delivery. Regards, Toshiki" I was hoping I could at least get a credit for shipping on my next order or a discount code of some sort. I guess I'm going to have to re order it from somewhere else. It's been almost a month now and my products are waiting to be finished who knows if it's still coming or not. Anyone have experience shipping to Canada from them? My last order from them was EMS and it took 4-5 days...

Hmm, I'm just down south in Windsor...gah I wish I had the money...

I ordered a bottle of black edge kote and some daubers from leathercrafttools.com about three weeks ago (unregistered small packet) and still haven't received it. It sucks because I have a bunch of stuff sitting here waiting to be finished. I know it's the cheapest shipping option but the website still says 10 days to NA. and its been like...22. No tracking either so I have no idea where it is.

Hello! How Do I Get Started In Leather Working?
RStevenson replied to Walesy's topic in Member Gallery
Hand sewing is stronger and makes more attractive stitches, there's a bit of a learning curve to it but it's definitely cheaper than a sewing machine! -
