I know that some will disagree, but it worked for me. Buy a kit for several reasons especially if you are new. One would be to have all of the parts ready for you to use. Secondly, you can study what goes into making a wallet and instructions on how to make it. Finally, you can make a pattern to make your next wallet. I have 7 wallets that I have made to include my first kit. I'm just saying....

It is a handheld tool which was marketed by 'Pro Petal' used to undercut and lift areas of leather to create a 3D effect. The 'sharp' probably signifies that it ready to use. Being sharp is very important because of the angle and what is designed for. The first picture shows a C.S. Osborne version of the same tool. Other stamping tools offered and used for the same effect are referred to undershot or undercut bevelers. Tandy has a version of this tool and is listed as Craftool B60. Tandy Leather Factory also sells under their 'Modeling' tool line one that has the same tips as the 'Pro Petal' tool. I hope this helps.

I started out with using rubber cement for temporary contacts. I have since moved to contact cement as an extra hold application. It is hard to tell because I have seen both rubber and contact cement with this discolored look.

Eric....Welcome to the forum. I not only finish my edges, but I will color them depending on the lacing style. Since I stick mostly to the Spanish Round Braid as my choice, it will not show a bid of leather through, but it is time consuming. I bought of mine at Bed, Bath and Beyond. They sell it in the cutting board section. I bought both sizes they had a small one & large one. It isn't a 1/2" thick, but about 3/8" and I have been using them for multiple things one being skiving. Good luck.

Well...I have an oak leaf tree just out side of my office and I am constantly picking a leaf here and there. The portion that comes off the petal and attaches to the branch is round and kinda coned at the end. I thought if you used something think and round, you could wet the leather and mold it around the think object to provide a roundness effect. Take a look at any resource books that you may have regarding oak leaves. Good luck.

Dude....those are really cool. I envy you because I cannot color anywhere close to this. Have you considered using a long thin nail to round and cap the stem? Outstanding job.

Hide Crafter's used to sell them but there was not a big market for them, so they stopped. If you buy them from Simon at GoodsJapan, it will not take you 30 days to get them. He uses Air Mail and it will get to you within the 10days. I have used this site before and never had any issues with things taking 30 days to get it. You can email Simon at Info@goodsjapan.com for a shipping time quote. Occasionally, they come up on eBay, but good luck getting them.

You might take a look at Lowe's or Home Depot. Take a look at the their sunscreen material. I am not sure if this is what you looking for or not.

I have used the edge of my granite block to sew the opposite side of a bag or what not when the gusset has already been attached. I would just place several weight bags inside to hold it still and sew away. good luck!
